Solar Panel Project at CRC

The project is awaiting final testing, approval, and cutover by ComEd. Project remains on schedule.

Langdon Shoreline Project

Langdon Beach improvements are nearly complete, with a new sail fence being installed to enhance safety. Additional "punch list" items will be completed this fall.

Hibbard Park OSLAD Project

At Hibbard Park, the new shade structures are nearly finished and demolition of the playground has begun, with installation of new equipment expected for October. The pickleball courts have cured, and the contractor is applying pickleball court lines.

PLANNING PHASE

Community Recreation Center Restoration Project

At the Community Recreation Center (CRC), staff are finalizing reconstruction plans following the sprinkler incident resulting in water damage to the facility. Currently awaiting bids and determining entire scope of project.

U P D A T E S

RECREATION - August marked the close of another successful summer camp season, with strong participation across all programs. The Early Childhood Center celebrated a great first day of school, welcoming families and beginning the new academic year on a positive note. At the same time, the Beach and Pool seasons are winding down, with staff preparing for end-of-season schedules and transitions into fall programming.

SPECIAL EVENTS - The Wilmette Block Party is coming September 6 - in partnership with the Village, the event will run from noon-10 pm, kids zone open noon–4 pm. Sponsorship for The Block Party has raised over $40,000 to support the event and keep this a zero cost event to the community. Foam Party and Jesse White Tumblers are back. New this year, two secret shows in Ouilmette Way and LED wristbands for attendees. There is also a puppy adoption event from 12:30 pm-2:30 pm. 

In August, a community-wide survey for the July 3 events resulted in 256 responses and will help shape the future of the events.

FINANCE UPDATE - Through June 30, the District reported a $4.7M year-to-date surplus, versus a $1.78M budgeted surplus. Revenues are tracking 4.9% above plan, driven by stronger interest income and OSLAD grant receipts. Expenses remain in line with budget, with electricity costs running lower than projected.
