August Book Club News

In August, we're delighted to share two novels about the power of secrets: Two long-time friends discover their daughters are endangered by secrets meant to stay hidden in We Are All Good People Here , and a woman must confront the buried truths of her past at her 40th birthday party in The Birthday Girl . Author Mary Doria Russell's historical novel The Women of Copper Country depicts a strike against the world's largest copper mining company and the courageous woman who led it. A pet crow fights to save humanity in the hilarious debut novel Hollow Kingdom . And Elissa Altman mines the subject of mother-daughter relationships in her insightful memoir Motherland .
This month's Book Club Buzz features Kristin Harmel's The Winemaker's Wife , a moving story set amid the champagne vineyards of northern France during the darkest days of World War II. Look for the giveaway, along with a recipe from the author, on August 26th.

The Art of Racing in the Rain film adaptation will be in theaters in August. In celebration, we suggest you sample Garth Stein's Enzo's Pancakes, a recipe he shared with us in our cookbook, Table of Contents.
