Kids day on the bay :)
On July 18 we welcomed a group of kids and grandkids of our members for a day on the water! Although we got rained out on the originally scheduled date, after pushing out by one day we were greeted with blue sky and a warm breeze.
During the one-day mini lesson we covered theory (parts of the boat and water safety), took turns at tiller / main sheet hand switch maneuver behind the back (on land), discussed capsize recovery during land drill, and finally got out on the water. Everyone took turns at the tiller and sheets, whether in individual boats or sailing with an instructor. Sail-football game and a few water guns assured a great time for everyone involved. In the afternoon, everyone got to practice capsize recovery on a Sunfish.

Awesome job to all the kiddos, especially our Opti sailors who got out there in their tiny vessels and managed wind and waves all by themselves.

And a huge THANK YOU to many people who helped in any way to assure safety for all participants.
Family Picnic 2021
Our annual Friends and Family Picnic on July 3rd was well attended and a great time was had by all. Mother Nature graciously provided us with beautiful weather to enjoy sailing the lake or tossing bean bags or frisbees. Our banquet table nearly cracked under the weight of all the fabulous dishes contributed by our members and their guests. Nobody went away hungry! The day was capped off with our amazing flotilla to the dam to watched the fireworks. The lake was definitely the place to be!

I can’t begin to thank everyone who brought their special dishes to share, and special thanks to the kitchen crew who kept finding more and more space on the table to serve them. You ladies always “show up” and these parties run smoothly because of you. Thanks also to a certain gremlin who sweated over hot charcoals flipping all the burgers and dogs.

Catch up on previous editions in prior Breeze posted on our Website.
Lidia Gray

You can find Lidia at the club just about any weekend in the summer. She’s either flipping sunfish, teaching, taking care of school boats, or sailing her much-loved Catalina with her family.

Wednesday Night Racing
So far this year's races on Wednesday nights have been anything but boring. (Mostly) Winds have ranged from almost nothing to blowing dogs off of chains. There has been near misses, bumper boating and collisions, broken equipment, and a whole lot of fun! Here's a breakdown of the PCC member standings:
PHRF Cruising Fleet: (Place of overall boats)
Wind Dancer (Hall) 2nd
Semper Fi (Patterson) 4th
Patriot (Ristvey) 5th
La Nina del Mar (Schempp) 6th
True North (Weber) 7th

Flying Scot Fleet
PCC's Flying Scot, (Sassy Lassy) crewed by Gallagher, Soriano, and Maloney, is ranked 4th out of 4 qualified boats.
Input to our monthly newsletter is encouraged and greatly appreciated! Please email articles and photos to Breeze Editor in Chief, Lidia Gray at szarak2000@yahoo.com by the 25th of each month.
