MORE ABOUT PARKING

In the May Newsletter, residents were reminded about the rules for parking in Beaux Arts Village in response to concerns / complaints expressed about the number of cars regularly parked on Town rights-of-way. We are still hearing those concerns and wish to remind everyone that IF YOU SEE A CAR THAT SEEMS TO BE BREAKING THE PARKING RULES, please contact the Town Marshal. Using the message box on the Contact Us page, be sure to include the vehicle’s location, description, and any other information that may be useful in determining whether a violation has occurred. If possible, please take a photo with a date / time stamp for visual confirmation that a violation may have occurred. The Town Marshal will place a violation notice on the vehicle, if appropriate, and follow up with the vehicle’s owner.

MAILSTAND POSTINGS

Mailstands are provided for both official Town notices (agendas and hearings) and community notes. If you wish to post something on the mailstand, please try to post in such a way as to leave plenty of room for others. And please DO NOT REMOVE notices that you didn’t post. The Town clerks remove out-of-date postings on an ongoing basis.

BACKFLOW PREVENTION DEVICE TESTING

The Town’s backflow testing program will be conducted again this year by Northern Waters. They anticipate testing during the week of August 11 through 15. If your system passes, you will only receive an invoice for the testing. If it fails, Northern Waters will contact you with information on making repairs before reconnecting.

REPUBLIC SERVICES

The recent interruption in Republic Services pickups was a surprise to all. While the Town does try to help residents be aware of such incidents and the options that may be available, the best way to remain informed is to sign up for notifications directly from Republic. For more information, please visit the Town’s website here: https://beauxarts-wa.gov/franchise-utilities and scroll down the page to Republic Services for a link.

COUNCIL BUSINESS

The Council held their regular meeting on Tuesday July 8th to discuss/act on the following:

  • Passed Ordinance No. 481 adopting the 2026 – 2031 Capital Investment Plan / Transportation Improvement Plan.
  • Approved the Town’ Engineer’s proposal for the 2025 Stormwater Cleaning / Camera work.
  • Reviewed a proposal for additional plantings along the Glen Path. This discussion will continue in September to give Councilmembers time to hear from more residents.
  • Discussed the status of Bellevue’s proposal to replace a water line running through, but not supplying water to, Beaux Arts. This is an ongoing discussion / negotiation with Bellevue.
  • Discussed recent complaints about parking at length with Town Marshal Jeff Jochums. See more information above.

Next Council meeting will be Tuesday September 9th at Mayor Howes’ house. (Reminder: there is no regular August meeting.)
