GLEN PATH UPDATE

This undeveloped roadway running south from the top of SE 28th Place to SE 29th is on the cusp of being restored! To create a more interesting and enjoyable walking path, invasive plants such as English Ivy, Himalayan Blackberry and English Laurel will be removed and will be replaced with native plants and trees such as mahonia, rhododendron, salal, ferns, vine maple and Douglas Fir.

Timeline:

July 30: Plants & logs that will stay have been flagged and will be incorporated into the landscape restoration effort. Please leave the bright-colored ties in place.

Mid-September: Demolition work will begin and should last approximately a week.

Mid-October: Plant installation begins and will also take approximately a week to complete.

SEPTEMBER COUNCIL MEETING

The Council’s meeting on September 10th will start one hour earlier at 6pm to allow plenty of time for the Comprehensive Plan review. As a reminder, there is no regular Council meeting in August.

WATER BILL PAYMENTS

When paying your water bill by hand delivery to the Town mailbox, PLEASE PLACE YOUR CHECK IN AN ENVELOPE. Loose checks are easily lost among the other mail the Town receives. Feel free to re-use the envelope your bill came in to save paper.

SOLICITORS

A resident has asked whether solicitors are allowed in Beaux Arts. The answer is yes, but you don’t have to allow them access to your property. If you don’t want solicitors on your property, please post a “No Soliciting” sign at the main entrance(s). If a solicitor ignores the sign, you should call the police to report the trespass. Some residents have posted “No soliciting / No Trespassing” signs to cover all options.

COUNCIL BUSINESS

The Council met on Tuesday July 9th and conducted the following business:

  • Discussed the 2025-2030 Capital Improvement Plan / Transportation Improvement Program and made revisions and additions as needed. The plan will be adopted by ordinance after a public hearing at the September Council meeting.
  • Reviewed progress on the Glen Path Improvement project, including actual and anticipated expenditures and project timing.
  • Discussed progress on the 2023 Update to the Town’s Comprehensive Plan. The Planning Commission is finishing their work on a final draft, which the Council will review in detail during their September meeting before submitting to the Department of Commerce for final review.
