Several hundred residents enjoyed a communal dining experience at the seventh annual  Goleta Dam Dinner by Lake Los Carneros on Saturday, August 17th.
Representatives from the  Goleta Chamber of Commerce , the  Goleta Valley Historical Society , the  City of Goleta  and area businesses organized the free event adjacent to the historic  Rancho La Patera & Stow House .

Attendees brought their own food and drinks while enjoying the music of the  Salt Martians Bluegrass Band . The  Neighbor Tim's BBQ  food truck served up mouthwatering dishes during the two-hour event.

The Goleta City Council recently approved $115,000 to fund economic development through visitor services with the Goleta Chamber of Commerce. The funding decision was made after an extensive request for proposal (RFP) process that the Chamber participated in. The final amount is a  $10,000 reduction from past years.

The Chamber has partnered with the City of Goleta for the past 6 years to provide visitor services in tandem with our work on destination marketing through the South Coast Tourism and Business Improvement District (TBID). Revenues related to tourism, hospitality and lodging are a major source of funding for the City of Goleta and an important economic development driver.

In Goleta alone, transient occupancy tax generated $11.5  million in tax revenue last year and supports nearly 1,300 jobs. Without tourism, taxpayers would each have to pay another $1,134 a year per household to cover the amount raised for the City.

Projects supported by this funding are the Goleta Inspiration Guide and popular Goleta Visitor Map. Both pieces highlight the variety of outdoor recreation, unique eateries and tasting rooms in Goleta.  Click here to view the 2019 Goleta Inspiration Guide...
