National Make-A-Will Month

While everyone needs a will, only about 32% of Americans say they actually have one, according to a 2024 Wills and Estate Planning Study by Caring.com.

Wills aren't about doom and gloom. Estate planning is about empowerment and peace of mind. With the help of an advisor, you can create or update your estate plan to include language leaving a bequest to the Potawatomi Zoo to support our mission for years to come and inspire others.

Have you already remembered the Potawatomi Zoo in your will? Tell us! When you decide to leave a legacy gift to the Potawatomi Zoo, you become part of our Wildlife Legacy Society, our most distinguished group of supporters.

Please consider making a will this month!

*The Potawtaomi Zoo is not a tax professional. Consult your legal counsel when considering these types of gifts.

Adult Zoo Camp

There’s still one more chance for adults to have a Zoo camp experience! Sign up for the Curious Conservationists camp on August 17 (9 am to 3 pm). Enjoy a fun day of crafts, animal encounters, games, and behind-the-scenes experiences that will help you deepen your understanding of how zoos work and what their place is in species conservation.

The adult day camp is for adults 18 and up. It’s $75 (includes lunch), and Zoo Members receive a 10% discount.

Road Construction

The City of South Bend is doing construction on Wall Street, and parts of the road may be closed between Ironwood and Greenlawn Ave. The Zoo is open from 10 am to 8 pm daily (through August 31, then 10 am to 5 pm starting September 1), but you may need to follow detour signs to access the parking lot.

The goal of the city's project is to create more parking spaces and improve walkability for the area, and it should be completed by early October, weather permitting.
