Valparaiso Back to School Reminders
Valparaiso Community Schools are back in session after summer break. As a reminder, school zones have a reduced speed limit. Watch for kids entering and exiting school buses. Do not drive around a stopped school bus and do not go through when red flashing stop signs are extended. Law states that both sides of the road must stop when a school bus has their red flashers and stop signs out. We wish our students, teachers and staff a great start to the school year.
Water Boil Advisory - what residents should know
In July, the City of Valparaiso called for a precautionary water boil advisory after an incident where a contractor caused a large water main break. A boil advisory is a precautionary measure issued by the water utility to alert customers when there is a potential for compromised water quality. It is recommended that customers boil all water used in the preparation of food and beverage for consumption for 5 minutes. A boil advisory is a precautionary step that Valparaiso City Utilities can take while they continue to assess and test our water system. Review some frequently asked questions to learn more about water boil advisories.
National Night Out Success
Valparaiso Police Department celebrated National Night Out alongside city neighborhoods on August 3. This annual event brings communities and police together in a positive way to create an exchange of ideas and develop partnerships. Thanks to all neighborhoods for participating this year.
