The Morotock Fund was established in 1998 to promote the arts and culture in our region. Past recipients include choral and symphonic organizations as well as museums and theaters, among others.

$237,500 In Riverbank Fund Grants Awarded     

The Community Foundation of the Dan River Region announced eight grant awards totaling $237,500 from the RiverBank Fund. The Fund was established last year to gather donations throughout Virginia and North Carolina earmarked for the protection and revitalization of the Dan River.

 

Eligible programs had to address at least one of the five focus areas:

  1. Responsibly address water quality for regional residents and companies.
  2. Encourage new development that ecologically features the River.
  3. Improve the cleanliness of the River and the Basin and help protect it from environmental threats.
  4. Increase access to the River for family-friendly sports, recreation and entertainment.
  5. Effectively promote the River to build regional pride and encourage tourism.

Halifax County Grant Cycle Opens August 10, 2015

The Fund for Halifax County is a unique opportunity for citizens, organizations and businesses to help build an endowment to improve and enrich lives in Halifax County. The Community Foundation of the Dan River Region accepts Halifax County Grant Proposals every Fall. In order to apply for our Halifax County Grant Cycle your organization must serve the citizens of Halifax County and must have a have a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status in good standing.

Last Cycle Recipients: Becky Martin, Halifax County Emergency Services, Chris Bass, Triangle Volunteer Fire Department, Ginger Weaver, American Red Cross, accepted grants from the Fund for Halifax County committee members Denise Hudson, Bill Kelehar, and Logan Young.
