Grief Support Group Begins September 11

Cornerstone VNA will be hosting an 8-week Grief Support Group for adults beginning September 11. The goal of the group is to help individuals cope with feelings of grief, loss and sadness in a safe and caring environment. Cornerstone VNA Offers Educational Series
To further promote health and wellness, Cornerstone VNA is pleased to offer a comprehensive Educational Series.  Educational Series presentations by Cornerstone VNA are FREE and open to community members, health professionals and local businesses.  Contact our Wellness Nurse at 800-691-1133 x 126 to learn more about our Educational Series and to schedule a presentation in your community or to your clinical or professional staff.

Educational Series presentations were recently held at Kittery Estates in Kittery, ME.  Jenna Arsenault RN, MSW, presented "Brain Exercises for Older Adults" and Karen Krause, Rehab Manger presented "Balance and Falls Prevention".

Hospice Volunteer Training 

Join us for this 8-week volunteer training program that focuses on how to provide comfort, support and a reassuring presence to Hospice
patients and their families.

Pet Peace of Mind Hospice Volunteer Training

Join us for a 3-week Pet Peace of Mind volunteer training program and learn how you can assist Hospice patients with the care of their beloved pet(s). Training provided in two locations:

Every Monday at the Newmarket Public Library
September 11 - 25, 2:30 pm – 5:30 pm.

Every Thursday at the South Berwick Public Library
September 14 - 28, 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm.

Volunteer Balance Coaches Needed

We are looking for volunteer coaches to assist in a new program called “A Matter of Balance”.  This program is designed to help people manage concerns about falls and increase physical activity.  The training involves a two-day, 4-hour training session, with coach mentor, Katie Michaud, MS, OTR/L of Cornerstone VNA.  Once trained, volunteers will help implement the program in the community in collaboration with Katie.  Details here.

Next Caregiver Cafe is August 30 in Farmington

The next Caregiver Cafe will be on Wednesday, August 30 at 10:30am. The Cafe takes place on the last Wednesday of each month and is a collaborative effort between Cornerstone VNA and the Goodwin Library in Farmington. Caregivers and their loved ones are invited to join us for a morning of support, conversation and education. Light refreshments are served.  Complete details here.

Palliative Care Director Receives Award

Congratulations to Palliative Care Director, Kelly Doherty, RN-C, MSN, ARNP-BC, who received the 2017 Vocational Award from the Rotary Club of Portsmouth.  Four individuals were honored at the club’s luncheon on June 15th and Kelly was honored in the Health Care Category.  Palliative Care is specialized medical care for those with a serious illnesses such as cancer, dementia, heart disease, lung disease, or any illness that causes distressing symptoms.  The goal of Palliative Care is to improve quality of life through specialized symptom management and to help individuals gain more control over their illness.  Click here to read more.

Hannaford on 833 Central Avenue in Dover has selected us to be the recipient of the Hannaford Helps Reusable Bag Program in August. For every "Helps" bag sold in August at this location, Cornerstone VNA will receive a $1 donation.
