Welcome to the newest edition of the Cornerstones enewsletter. The BACnet International community benefits from information and education shared through Cornerstones, the organization's monthly electronic publication. This publication is distributed to members of the BACnet community, connecting corporate, integrator, site, student and individual end users.

Cornerstones is a unique publication because it speaks not only to the engineer and contractor communities, but also to facility professionals, building managers and owners, and other personnel.

Back to school!

Earn FREE CEUs and PDHs on The BACnet Institute

Join students heading back to school and increase your BACnet knowledge while earning Continuing Education Units (CEUs) and Professional Development Hours (PDHs) with courses on The BACnet Institute (TBI).

There are currently three courses offered, including the recently released BACnet Device Profiles which covers the various device profiles and how they can be effectively used to ensure the successful specification of BACnet in a Building Automation System implementation.

The other courses available on TBI are the popular BACnet Basics course and The Facility Manager's Guide to Building Automation.

And don't miss videos of past BACnet International education sessions, including presentations from the 2020 AHR Expo. All of these education sessions can be found in the Resources section of TBI.

BTL Working Group Publishes Testing for BACnet/SC

The BACnet Testing Laboratories' Working Group (BTL-WG) has released addendum 16.1-bj of the BTL Test Package 16.1.2. This addendum contains tests to be used by manufacturers and Test Organizations to test BACnet Secure Connect (BACnet/SC) functionality for BTL Certification. The BTL-WG was formed by BACnet International to oversee the establishment of the BACnet conformance certification and listing program.

BACnet International Joins Other Technology Organizations in Forming the New IP-BLiS initiative

BACnet International recently joined the KNX Association, OCF, Thread Group and the Zigbee Alliance to form a new initiative: "IP Building and Lighting Standards" (IP-BLiS).

This collaboration is designed to better align commercial buildings with users' connectivity needs and to improve the integration of smart building products. The goal of this initiative is to promote a secure multi-standard IP-based infrastructure as a backbone in building automation to replace the inefficient, still-widespread use of siloed solutions.
