August 2020
An August to Remember
August has been busy and fun for us here at the Community First Fox Cities Marathon presented by Miron Construction as we launched two new programs - the Kids Challenge and Doc Talks - to cheer you on, keep you active and stay connected with you.

We hope you are enjoying these two new initiatives (see details below) and can't wait to hear your feedback.

Sincerely,
The Community First Fox Cities Marathon Team & Board of Directors

Looking for a new activity for your kids? Try the new Community First Fox Cities Marathon Kids Challenge to keep your kids moving and promote healthy habits.

Plus, if they track their activity and let us know how it went by Sept. 7, 2020, they could win a $50 SCHEELS Gift Card or free entry into the Guardian Kids Fun Run or Huggies Diaper Dash/Toddler Trot!

Of course we'd love it if your kids started running, but any activity counts.

Have fun!

The Community First Fox Cities Marathon Presented by Miron Construction is excited to announce that Dr. William Albiero, an orthopedic surgeon at Orthopedic & Sports Medicine Specialists (OSMS), has joined its volunteer board of directors.

“We’re excited to welcome Dr. Albiero to the board,” said Courtney Vosters, chair of the Community First Fox Cities Marathon Board of Directors. “Dr. Albiero’s experience in providing care for the Minnesota Wild, Minnesota Twins, University of Minnesota Gophers and Gustavus Adolphus College athletes will help with providing great insight guiding our Fox Cities Marathon runners to be the best they can!”

Sponsor Spotlight: OSMS Returns as Health & Wellness Expo Sponsor for 2021
Giving back to the community is an important part of the culture at OSMS – Orthopedic & Sports Medicine Specialists. We’re thrilled they will continue to support our mission of health, wellness and community as they return to sponsor the Health & Wellness Expo at the 2021 Community First Fox Cities Marathon weekend of events.

“The Fox Cities Marathon race weekend is about giving back to the community and promoting healthy activities for all ages,” OSMS Marketing Manager Darin Schumacher said. “At OSMS, one of our key fundamentals is to Make a Difference. We do this by giving back to our community whether that be hosting a blood drive or donating time at a local non-profit. We also spend time educating people on how to minimize their chance for injury.”

OSMS, a doctor-owned orthopedic, sports medicine and rheumatology practice, is expanding its presence in the Fox Valley. On August 31, they will open a state-of-the-art 60,000 square foot clinic in Fox Crossing. In addition to a full scope of orthopedic and rheumatologic care, the clinic will include diagnostic technologies like X-ray and MRI, physical and occupational therapy, and a walk-in clinic for urgent orthopedic injuries. OSMS is made up of 24 doctors including 20 orthopedic and sports medicine physicians, and four rheumatologists. Being doctor-owned, OSMS can make decisions and provide care that is truly focused on the optimum patient outcome.

“We look forward to being part of the 30th anniversary marathon next September, said Jean Lemke, OSMS Contracting & Credentialing Specialist, who volunteered last year at the Expo and is a runner herself. “I enjoyed talking with fellow runners and being part of the exciting atmosphere last year.”

Thank you OSMS for your continued support!
