E-News - August 2020
I continue to be amazed and blessed by the faithfulness of the congregation at National Heights. Throughout this season of COVID-19, you have continued to worship, share, serve, and give in the name of our Lord. Those who have been able to attend our in-person worship services and those who continue to worship with us online are a reminder of how God works through his people even in the most difficult of circumstances. You have continued to maintain fellowship through online classes, e-mails, phone calls, cards, letters, and more. You have been faithful in your giving online or though the mail when you cannot be here in person. Thank you! You are a blessing!

We will continue our commitment to follow community guidelines providing our ministries in a way that protects you and your family. We are blessed with a gifted staff who continue to find innovative ways to minister to you and our community. As the guidelines and circumstances allow, we will endeavor to find ways to move forward in the days ahead. Know that your NHBC staff is praying for you. God has great days in store for National Heights. I can’t wait to see what God is going to do through you!
MASKS FOR STUDENTS

This year we are seeing new opportunities for community ministry due to the Coronavirus. As students return to school this year, masks are highly recommended. We can provide washable, three-layer masks for $2.75 each. If you would like to help provide one or more masks for students in two of our elementary partner schools, please mark your contribution, "student masks." THANK YOU!
~Stepping Out Ministry Team
Words cannot express how thankful I am the Lord gave me the opportunity and privilege to play for this congregation at National Heights. I was told it has been over 33 years—I have been so blessed! I want to thank all of you who have sent cards, gifts, visits to my home, phone calls and for the very kind words you have offered. I will miss my position at the piano but will continue to volunteer with hand bells and other ministries. My dear friend, Jan, told me one time, she was “hugging me with her heart.” So, since we can’t hug or shake hands right now I would like to say to each of you—“I’m hugging you with my heart!” Thank you for being my church family.

NEW ONLINE STUDY - Sundays @ 5:00 p.m.
This 8-week study began Sunday, July 12 at 5:00 PM
“Something Needs to Change” - Featuring David Platt

“A Christian’s impulse should be to run to need and proclaim the goodness, grace, and favor of our God to those in need.” - David Platt

When David Platt took a trip to the Himalayan mountains, the staggering hardship he witnessed transformed the trajectory of his life. Now, in this study, he’s inviting you to reflect and wrestle with him as he describes his life-altering trek through the Himalayas. You’ll ask hard questions alongside Platt about human need, suffering, faith, the gospel, and our role. For Christians, ignorance of profound human need is not an option. Neither is indifference. It’s time to explore what it means to follow Jesus in a world of urgent physical and spiritual need.

It’s not too late to join in this excellent study! You will find a “link to participant guide” and the “Zoom link” in the e-mail you were sent. Hope you’ll join in.
COMMUNITY FOOD BASKET COLLECTION CONTINUING

The WMU will continue the collection for the community food baskets. As a reminder, they are collecting the following: Chef Boyardee canned meals, instant oatmeal packets, peanut butter, jelly, canned corn or green beans, saltine crackers and pudding cups. Or you may simply give a monetary gift and mark it, “Holiday Basket.”
