NFCA Codes and Standards Update
NFCA & ICC 2021 Code – NFCA submitted several Pubic Comments at ICC’s CDPAccess website. The proposals will be heard Oct. 17-31, in Richmond, VA. Do you have ideas about what should change in the codes? Submit to for consideration for the next code cycle.

NFCA at NFPA – NFCA’s Bill McHugh is a member of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Fire Protection Features Committee. The Committee met in Minneapolis in July. A long discussion took place about Performance Based Structural Fire Safe Design, proposed by the Society of Fire Protection Engineers’ (SFPE) Chris Jelenewicz. The Committee decided that the proposal not move forward at this level. There is another ‘letter ballot’ where a final decision is reached by the committee. NFCA also submitted a proposal that an annex note be modified to include Spray Fire Resistive Materials and Intumescent Fire Resistive Materials in addition to mandatory language that materials be installed to manufacturers installation instructions and listed designs.
In honor of OSHA’s Safe + Sound Week, Aug. 13-19 , NFCA’s August Safety Tip of the Month recognizes OSHA as a valuable resource for safety information. OSHA offers “Recommended Practice for Safety and Health Programs” . A sound safety and health program will prevent workplace injuries, improve your compliance with laws and regulations; reduce costs, engage your workers and increase productivity.

NFCA Safety Tip of the Month gives NFCA Members the opportunity to share and learn safety actions being used on job sites that work and contribute to job site safety. Email NFCA a safety issue you had AND how you solved it.  Win a NFCA Shirt if your safety tip is chosen!  Email your “Safety Tip of the Month” to
