MilkWorks Celebrates
World Breastfeeding Week
MilkWorks supports and celebrates breastfeeding everyday, but especially the first week in August during World Breastfeeding Week.
MilkWorks offers many free and low cost resources to help moms reach their breastfeeding goals. They offer a wide variety of virtual services, including telehealth lactation care, to continue to serve a growing and changing population.
With the passage of two recent legislative bills, there is now stronger coverage for women and children enrolled in Nebraska Medicaid - and that's cause for extra celebration.

Grant Award for Preschool Program
Creates Veggie Lovers
When kids get to taste fresh healthy foods at a very young age and learn about them in a fun and interactive way, they are more likely to enjoy them and share their newfound appreciation with their families, improving not only child health, but family health.
But when funding ran out for Partnership for a Healthy Lincoln's (PHL) popular and successful preschool nutrition education program, we were fortunate to get a grant award though the USDA Patrick Leahy Farm to School Program.
The grant allows PHL to continue and expand their program that promotes local farms while teaching kids to love fresh produce.

Partnership for a Healthy Lincoln is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving and protecting the health, wellness, and fitness of Lincoln's children, families, and seniors.
We work to improve wellness policies and conduct community level health research. We collaborate with community partners to promote healthy weights through good nutrition and fitness, improve child and maternal health by supporting breastfeeding, create better patient outcomes by increasing cancer screening and vaccination rates, improving chronic disease management, increasing preventative outreach, and standardizing clinical practices. During public health crises like the COVID 19 pandemic, we help to protect community health by providing science and evidence-based information.
Partnership for a Healthy Lincoln also works to improve health equity in our community, addressing disparities among racial and ethnic populations with the highest burden of chronic disease. Systemic racism is also a threat to community health. We stand in solidarity with everyone who is fighting for greater equality and justice for all.
