Art Exhibition
The Jacob Edwards Library is pleased to host the LatinX Exhibition: Featuring Work of Artists from Puerto Rico, Cuba and the Dominican Republic during the month of September. Artists displaying their work will include: Tamara Diaz (Cuba), Jose Ramirez (Dominican Republic), Helen Santana (Dominican Republic), Saul Ramos (Puerto Rico) and Lydia Perez (Puerto Rico).
A reception will be held on Thursday, September 5, 2019 at 6:30 pm, with light refreshments available, courtesy of the Friends of the Jacob Edwards Library. A performance by Arte Latino of New England (ALNE) will also be held the evening of the reception. All welcome!
Did You Know?
Did you know that the Jacob Edwards Library provides access to over a dozen online databases? Most of these digital resources can be accessed from home - think of them as your 24/7 library! This month we look at
Encyclopedias.
The Jacob Edwards Library provides online access to the
Britannica Encyclopedia, for elementary, young adult, and adult readers, and is also available in Spanish language. The
World Book Encyclopedia suite is also available. Encyclopedias can help you research information for school reports, locate places mentioned in the news, or prepare you for your next game of trivia!
There is always something going on or something to do at the library! Feel free to drop in anytime!

Thursday, September 26 at 6:30 pm
Flamenco Boston will perform at the Jacob Edwards Library in Southbridge on Thursday, September 26th, with Antonio Tran accompanying the dancers on guitar. This performance is presented as part of the library's celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month.
Antonio "Tiriti" Tran is an upcoming flamenco guitarist in the New England scene and has worked with Flamenco Boston since 2009. Antonio has studied music since the age of 12 and has played in Spain in Granada, Jerez, Sevilla, Malaga, and Alhaurina El Grande. Antonio has also worked with modern dancers from the Boston area, and he was featured in Dave Glista's film,
Revealing Space. He has been featured regularly on television programs such as the
Steve Katsos Show and
All About the Arts. Antonio is currently working on his first full length album.
