As I look back on Philadelphia magazine's Design Homes that I've had the pleasure of working on, all of the kitchens have been absolutely amazing!

In 2010, the Design Home had a very large kitchen. The style was rather traditional with off white glazed cabinets which were off set with terra cotta walls. The backsplash was marble in a stacked stone design. Granite lined the larger island and the perimeter. The small island had a butcher block finish. The subzero refrigerator had panels to match the cabinets. The dishwasher was also disguised with panels. This was a great home to gather in the kitchen and share with friends and family.

The kitchen in 2011 was added to an older home in Haverford. It bridged the gap between the traditional rooms in the original home with a more contemporary addition. We chose white cabinets with clean lines. The stainless steel appliances were left to shine on their own. The perimeter of the kitchen was finished with marble and the very large island had quartzite with a marble border. I had to hide when that big piece was brought in. You can see another picture of this kitchen in The Kitchen Bible by Barbara Ballinger and Margaret Crane on page 103.

2013 was very transitional. One of my favorite parts was the leathered granite on the perimeter accented by leathered marble in the center island. White cabinets are always in good taste. Two refrigerators gave this a wonderful , workable presence. The backsplash was a delightful marble basket weave pattern. Classic yet updated.
