Right Here in St. Albert Video Campaign
|
|
The Economic Development department launched the third phase of the Right Here in St. Albert business profiles in July 2022 which showcases a variety of local businesses that have set up shop Right Here in St. Albert.
Throughout the summer and fall, videos are being released on Wednesdays on the City’s social media channels and at stalbert.ca/righthere, with the last video slotted for September 21.
The Right Here in St. Albert videos feature businesses who were identified as meeting a variety of criteria including those celebrating milestones, contributing to downtown business vibrancy and businesses that have expanded within the past five years. Businesses that were identified as friendly and welcoming, and customer-facing businesses were also selected, as were those who have contributed to new developments within the past five years or businesses that required specific development permitting, international businesses with space in St. Albert, and those in the construction sector.
This series will highlight NABI, Bread Love, Tempest Fire Protection, Tool Hound, Inc, Whisk Bake Shop, Visionary Center for the Performing Arts, Medidas Technologies, Wilson Analytical Services, GP Makeup the Beauty Haus, Tryst Wine & Small Plates, Movimento Fitness, and Track ‘N Trail, each of whom exemplify different qualities and demonstrate the range of businesses who make a difference here in St. Albert. Stay tuned to our channels on the City of St. Albert's social media channels to share with your network, and find videos on our website at stalbert.ca/righthere.

St. Albert’s Growing Transportation & Logistics Hub
|
|
St. Albert is quickly gaining ground to become one of the region's next transportation, logistics and warehousing hubs. Access to markets within days, if not hours, with transportation routes via highway, rail, air, and sea can be a game changer for logistics companies.
The second phase of Ray Gibbon Drive twinning project will be completed this year, which introduces a four-lane arterial road from north of LeClair Way to north of McKenney Avenue. This will improve local and regional traffic flow along Ray Gibbon Drive and benefit current and new light industrial business parks slated for development in the next few years.
South Riel business district offers exceptional access to Anthony Henday Drive, Yellowhead Trail Freeway and adjoining major highways throughout the region and Province. This class ‘A’ development provides modern architecture, extensive landscaping, and greenspace throughout, which blends the city’s natural beauty and connectivity to trail systems with storm pond designs offering walking trails to increase employee wellness.
The city has seen explosive expansion in the logistics sector with over 1.4 million sq ft of new and attractive warehousing leased in the last four years. In addition, nearly a half million sq ft of industrial space is currently being constructed in QuadReal’s Anthony Henday Business Park located at the intersection of Ray Gibbon Drive and LeClair Way.
The business park is currently home to Uline, the northern operations of Alberta Beverage Container Recycling Corp, and the newest tenant, OK Tire, who secured a recently completed 197,000 sq ft warehousing facility on Richardson Drive in early 2022.
QuadReal’s Phase II is already underway with two more buildings being constructed bringing on another half a million sq ft of industrial warehousing. Building One will consist of approximately 170,000 sq ft scheduled for completion in Q2 of 2023. The building will feature 36’ clear ceiling height, trailer parking, and attractive façade fronting onto Ray Gibbon Drive. Building Two will offer state-of-the-art architecture with 245,000 sq ft of warehouse space featuring cross dock capability and an impressive 40’ clear ceiling height allowing for increased vertical storage requirements and is scheduled for fixturing in Q3 of 2023.
Industrial space in the Edmonton Region is in high demand and the City of St. Albert is in the final stages of developing an area structure plan for the Lakeview Business District which will bring an additional 600+ acres of light industrial land to market and is slated to be ready for development in 2024. The Lakeview Business District has already grabbed the attention of multiple large developers and investors looking for their next logistics operation.

Spotlight on Business...Lustre Bridal
|
After many years of working in the bridal boutique industry, Cyn Punter purchased an independent bridal boutique in 2017 and changed the name to Lustre Bridal. Once located in West Edmonton Mall, local resident Cyn wanted to bring the shop to her home and community of St. Albert; in August 2022 they opened their shop in the heart of the Perron District on Perron Street. “When the space opened up we knew this would be the best opportunity to move the business to St. Albert where it is locally owned and operated”.
Lustre Bridal is marketed as an all-inclusive wedding destination for those shopping for their special day, offering a size inclusive modern collection of wedding gowns and accessories from top designers in the industry as well as local designers working to make custom stunning gowns. They carry the colors and designs that set them apart, and also carry gowns for pageants, galas and graduation. On their social media pages, you can catch a glimpse of some of the beautiful dresses on offer, but to browse the dresses you can either make an appointment on weekends or walk in throughout the week to their shop. A perfect opportunity to try on some dresses before grabbing lunch at one of the many great independent restaurants in downtown St. Albert.
