Call for ALL Artists Portsmouth Arts Guild Imagine Fabric Juried Show

Cash Prizes!

Following the annual tradition at the Portsmouth Arts Guild of themed Juried shows comes the IMAGINE FIBER show.

How is fiber used in craft or the Arts? Knitters, Quilters, all Crafters and Artists using all media are invited to participate.

Members and Non-Members are invited to submit up to three works of Art. This show is JURIED so all works are welcome but NOT all will be selected to be shown. All work must be recent and for sale. Juror is to be announced soon.

Portsmouth Arts Guild offers cash prizes for the top three pieces chosen by the Juror. First place is $100.00, second is $75.00 and third is $50.00.
This will be virtual show with no physical exhibition of the work. The Guild has achieved great exposure in past shows on social media and through the new YouTube channel.

Intake for the show starts Wednesday, August 19th, and continues through Tuesday, August 25th. Artists must email pictures, in jpeg format, no larger than 5 MB, to the portsmouthartsguild@gmail.com address.

The show will premiere on the Guild’s new YouTube channel and various social media platforms starting the weekend of August 29th.

Show entry fees are for Members, $15.00 for the first entry and $5.99 each additional and Non-Members, $20.00 first entry, $10.00 for the second and $5.00 for the third entry.

Payment can be by mailed-in check (must be received by August 25th) or by credit or debit card through the “donate” button on the Guild website, portsmoutharts.org. Please include an additional $2.00 when paying by credit card. Thank you!

Huttleston Marketplace is an outdoor bazaar featuring vendors selling select hand made arts and crafts, quality antiques and vintage collectibles, upcycled items, fresh farm produce, and locally prepared foods.

The Guild will have a tent at the marketplace, offering
guild members’ hand painted birdhouses, flower pots, boxes and more.

INTRO TO ABSTRACT ART BY LISA BATCH
VIRTUAL CLASS ON ZOOM

Feel empowered! Release your natural artistic ability! Ditch the photos and rules of realism and enjoy creating emotional art. Instructor will show samples, explain simple techniques and give 1:1 assist online. Hand-outs will be provided. ZOOM link will be sent upon registration.

Instructor: Lisa Batch has displayed her art in numerous galleries and shows throughout New England and SW Florida. She has taught art classes at The Brooks Resort in Estero, FL. and she was the featured artist and demonstrator at the COCO Gallery, also in Estero. Besides painting, her creative background includes time as a Broadway singer, an ASCAP composer, and a national award winning author. These days Lisa is content to paint nonstop and she looks forward to sharing this fascinating art form with you.

ONLINE WATERCOLOR WORKSHOP - PAINTING SKIES

The sky can be an expressive part of your landscape painting. In this one-time online workshop, I’ll show you many ways to paint skies…from easy “30-second” skies to more complicated layered sunsets. The workshop is appropriate for beginners and experienced artists. No special art materials will be needed other than your palette of paints and paper and brushes. Upon registration you will receive an email with additional information. A few days before the class is scheduled, you will receive an email with the Zoom link and password.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR

Margie Samuels is an experienced watercolorist and art instructor. Graduating with honors from Brandeis University, she majored in fine arts, then went on to study painting at both the Arts Student League in New York and the New Jersey Center for Visual Arts.

Samuels shows and sells her own paintings through various arts organizations as well as local and out-of-state galleries. She is a Signature Member of the New Jersey Watercolor Society, the Garden State Watercolor Society and the Essex Watercolor Club. She has won numerous awards  for her paintings. Samuels has an impressionistic style with a strong sense of composition; her paintings invite the viewer in through exciting brushwork and color combinations.

Samuels has her own studio in West Caldwell, NJ, where she teaches classes and workshops. In addition, each summer Samuels teaches watercolor with yoga workshop at the InView Center for the Arts at the Landgrove Inn in Vermont.

Painting the Working Waterfront with Anthony Tomaselli

You will be inspired and challenged and you will leave this workshop motivated to PAINT, PAINT. PAINT!”…..Anthony Tomaselli

Open to all media (oil, acrylic, pastel and watercolor)
• Beginning each day with a short demo, Anthony will cover plein air strategies such as simplifying the subject and quick sketching to zero in on the feeling and focus of the painting. There will be an emphasis on composition and finding the focal point.
• We will paint the waterfront in Bristol and Warren, including wharves, boats and harbor views. However there are plenty of village views as well that can be considered. Your choice.
• 3pm we will gather and critique. A bit of beverage, beer and wine will be provided….

Anthony Tomaselli
One of the most recognizable painters in Rhode Island, Anthony Tomaselli has been active in nearly every arts organization in the State, as well as in venues beyond its borders. Outside of Rhode Island, he has shared his work in exhibitions in Maine, New York, and Florida, to name a few. Through years of experience, he has built a network of peers, students, and an eager clientele throughout The East Coast, north, central and south.
