Over the course of the weeks of Summer Art Camp, kids will have fun doing all sorts of thematic activities.
Week 5 - (August 2-5, NO CLASS ON AUGUST 1) Create Like the Greats (Famous Artists): Have you ever heard of Vincent Van Gogh? Or Michelangelo? Well, this week we will be not only recreating some of their artworks such as starry night, but we will also be creating crafts using techniques that were popular with these artists! Although this week may only be 4 days, those days will be filled with a variety of fun and crafts as we use all sorts of techniques to create our masterpieces. We will be experimenting working with clay sculpture making, lots of painting and using pastels to create beautifully shaded art of whatever the children's heart's desire.
Week 6 - Desert Oasis (August 8-12): This week, we will be creating our very own treasure maps to help us find the lost treasures of the desert. We also will get to make a desert in a box with real sand and dried plants to add to the desert effect. Throughout the week, we will get to dig through sand to discover some lost treasures and fossils as well as partake in a treasure hunt throughout the camp and the park. All of the treasures that are found will be able to be brought home.
Week 7 - Ocean Odyssey (August 15-19): As well as making plenty of ocean-themed crafts, such as an ocean in a bottle to take home a bit of the sea, we’ll have lots of ocean-themed activities scattered throughout the week (some that involve water) to really bring home that ocean feeling such as magnet fishing and finding shells in the sand.
Week 8 - Magical Wonderland (August 22-26): Throughout this week we'll get to create our own magical potions and fairy houses as we experiment with some fun art techniques. We will be creating art with bubbles, fabrics, glitter glues and more to really bring out the fun in art before summer's end!
