The ancient Egyptians mined peridot on the Red Sea island of Zabargad, the source for many large fine peridots in the world’s museums. The Egyptians called it the “gem of the sun.” Today this gem is still prized for its restful yellowish green hues and long history. Large strongly-colored, examples can be spectacular, and attractive smaller gems are available for jewelry at all price points.

Long Multi Diamond Station Necklace - With over 500 small loose diamonds to utilize that were unset from several pieces of old, dated jewelry, Christina Termine brainstormed with her client on the perfect piece of jewelry, in which to reset all the diamonds. The client did not own a long necklace and was shown a proto-type necklace that had multiple "marquise" shaped diamond stations, which the client loved. Taking into consideration that a long necklace would "roll" across the body, a CADD computerized design was custom created for new "double sided" marquise stations, which contained graduated size diamonds, in order to utilized all the various size loose diamonds, and to see diamonds from every angle, when the necklace swung back and forth. A pattern, mimicking sunrays, was incorporated into the marquise station design, with remaining large, singular diamonds set aside, to be individually "bezel set" into the long chain necklace. The end reset was a stunning 32 inch necklace that this client can wear day & night, or doubled up and worn short. A sparkling new piece of jewelry!

Beloved Chain - A men's gold chain with religious medallions had seen better days after daily wear for over 25 years. The chain became knotted and a weak link finally gave out. The knot was carefully removed and the broken link laser soldered back together with reinforcement. The medallions were steam cleaned and polished, to restore brightness to the gold. The client is happily reunited with his beloved necklace.

Evil Eye - a sentimental bracelet, given to this client from a relative, to ward off evil and keep her safe, eventually broke after daily wear. Frantic not to loose any of the jet black beads, the client was able to find each one and mailed the bracelet to Diamonds On The Key for restringing. Thick stretchable wire was used to restring the bracelet, to stretch over her hand. This "safe keeping" piece of jewelry is now back on the owners wrist, protecting her each day!

Antique Watch - wishing to keep his grandmother's watch close to his heart, after her passing, this young man looked to Diamonds On The Key for advice. A sterling silver, strong link chain was selected and silver jump rings were attached to the top of the watch, so that it could hang as a pendant from the necklace. As the antique watch was no longer working, and to keep it intact, no restoration was applied to the watch, which was loving worn on her wrist for decades. This young client now wears a remembrance of his loving grandmother every day.
