The Board of Directors spent the morning of our June 22nd meeting reaching out to our members, asking for donations to ABC of Iowa PAC. ABC of Iowa is the watchdog for protecting merit-shop contractors from discrimination in public job bidding. Through PAC, our member-led Government Affairs Council helps elect more pro-merit shop candidates to state office.

With your contributions we can defend our position in Iowa and ensure that your business interests are protected. Now more than ever, our contributions make a huge difference in holding the line and defending our positions.
At the July 20th Board of Directors meeting, we welcomed Jim Ellis of Price Electric (left) as the new Board Chair (July 1, 2022 - December 31, 2023).
Outgoing Board Chair, Loren Field of Younglove Construction, L.L.C. (right) was presented with a plaque of appreciation for his dedicated service as Board Chair (January 1, 2021 - June 30, 2022).

Electrical licenses expire December 31st, 2022, and electrical license holders are required to have 18 hours of CEUs.
ABC of Iowa is offering two continuing education weekends this Fall:
Thursday, September 29 - Saturday, October 1 - Riverside
Thursday, October 13 - Saturday, October 15 - Grimes (details coming soon).

Our members were fortunate to be able to have dinner with most members of Iowa’s Congressional delegation. We met with Senator Charles Grassley, Congressman Randy Feenstra, Congresswoman Ashley Hinson, and Congresswoman Mariannette Miller-Meeks.

Having a pro-business majority in both the Iowa Senate and Iowa House allows us to pass legislation that is beneficial to our members, and stop legislation that could harm your business. But we cannot take this for granted.

We also have two events coming up this fall to support our State PAC. We will be hosting sporting clay events in Pella on September 29th, and Riverside on October 6th. These events are a great way to support our political efforts and also have a good time with other members!

STEP was developed by contractors, for contractors, and is designed to provide you with an organized approach to analyze and further develop your safety program.
This self-audit program provides an objective method to measure your safety program and make continuous improvements.
Those who receive a STEP award will be honored during our Holiday Party / Annual Member Meeting on Wednesday, December 14th.
