The end of summer is just around the corner. Hopefully you and your employees have had a safe and productive one. I know the challenges ABC of Iowa members are facing in light of a global pandemic and recent weather events. This year has certainly presented its share of difficulties.
The staff and Trust Board members have been working hard all summer to come up with a plan for providing quality and safe education options for our apprentices. If we all work together, we can make this a productive school year, even amidst adversity.
It’s certainly a stressful time to be operating a business. If I, or any ABC of Iowa staff, can be of any help, please let us know.

The ABC of Iowa Apprenticeship & Training Trust’s Board of Trustees met recently to continue working on the details of our upcoming school year. It has always been our commitment to provide high quality apprenticeship training for your employees. Rest assured, we will continue to provide the quality education you’ve come to expect, while also balancing the safety and health of apprentices and instructors.
More information will be coming soon from the education team.

Despite being sidelined by the pandemic during the spring and summer, we have restarted our After Business Cocktails events, recently hosting one in August in Dubuque and this upcoming week in Davenport. This is a great opportunity for members from the surrounding area to get to know one another better for networking and making connections. We have another one coming up in Sioux City in October, we hope you will be able to join us.

As always, if you know of a potential ABC of Iowa member, please reach out to Jared to help make a connection or provide any additional information. We are always looking to add companies to our association.
Time is running out to get registered for the September 16th, Fall Golf Classic, at Tournament Club of Iowa. Don't delay - foursomes are filling up quickly!

We care about our members and their safety. We are working with Tournament Club of Iowa to accommodate our group in accordance with IDPH and CDC guidelines and recommendations.

National Suicide

The suicide rate in the construction occupation is 4 times greater than the national average and 5 times greater than that of all other construction fatalities combined.

September is National Suicide Prevention Month. ABC of Iowa has signed the pledge to commit to the principles to stand up for Suicide Prevention in Construction.

When the derecho hit our state a few weeks ago, ABC of Iowa members were quick to respond. Reports from many communities across Iowa showcased the dedication and commitment our members have to those in the community. Whether it was helping Iowans get power back, donating supplies or manpower, or coming to clean up – it’s no surprise that in a time of crisis ABC members step up to lead. Here’s one story out of Linn County featuring the team at Price Electric in Robins.

ABC of Iowa recently contributed $10,000 to Project Reconnect in Cedar Rapids.
