The Board of Directors spent the morning of our July meeting reaching out to our members, asking for donations to ABC of Iowa PAC. ABC of Iowa is the watchdog for protecting merit-shop contractors from discrimination in public job bidding. Through PAC, our member-led Government Affairs Council helps elect more pro-merit shop candidates to state office.

With your contributions we can defend our position in Iowa and ensure that your business interests are protected. Now more than ever, our contributions make a huge difference in holding the line and defending our positions.

In another meeting highlight, Jim Ellis of Price Electric, Vice Chairman of the ABC of Iowa Board of Directors was welcomed into the Beam Club after recruiting 6 members to our association.

For over 45 years, ABC of Iowa has trained our members’ craftsmen and women and we’re looking forward to starting another productive school year. Our program leads the way with our knowledgeable and experienced instructors, hands-on labs and state-of-the-art equipment and tools. We are committed to giving our students the very best education and experience.

Our members have enjoyed networking at our After Business Cocktails events around the state, most recently in Davenport in July.

Mark your calendars as we will be heading to Cedar Rapids on Oct. 28, Dubuque on Nov. 18 and Sioux City on Dec. 7. We know everyone is extremely busy, but we encourage you to drop by between 4:30-6:30 p.m. for one of these upcoming events - they are worthwhile and an excellent way for our members to connect and do business with other local ABC members in their area.

We hope you have had time this summer to perfect your swing and you’ll be joining us for bragging rights and a lot of fun at our Fall Golf Classic. Join ABC members in Polk City at the Tournament Club of Iowa’s, Arnold Palmer designed, beautiful course on Sept. 15^th to network, meet new members and connect with old friends.

Our Iowa OSHA Alliance provides our members safer and more healthful workplaces through combined efforts in raising awareness of OSHA outreach, training and education, and focus on significant workplace hazards.
