COVID-19 News for August

Daily Memo Updates
SMACNA-Western Washington has continued sending out daily memos to the membership and IF contributors. All the memos and attachments can be found on the COVID section of the SMACNA Website.

Summer Webinar Series - Navigating the Covid Pandemic Together
Every other week SMACNA-WW is holding a Webinar to assist members with pertinent issues during the pandemic. SMACNA-WW also added an additional mental health webinar with guest speaker Karen Forner from Employer Solutions Law. We have had over 20 attendees at each Webinar and have received great feedback. The webinar schedule is as follows:
  • PPP Loan Forgiveness Process and Tool Kit, 7/22
  • Pandemics and Productivity: Quantifying the Impact, 8/5
  • Leading and Managing a Remote Workforce, 8/19
  • Mental Health and Suicide Awareness and Prevention, 8/24
  • Improving Cash Flow - Practical Ideas that Work, 9/2
  • Pull Planning for Contractors, 9/16

Education Initiative
It has come to our attention that because many schools are only providing online instruction this fall, there could potentially be a manpower issue in less than three weeks. In response to this need, SMACNA-WW has created an online portal filled with resources to help parents navigate online learning. Included in the portal is a link to a MS Teams Platform. This will enable people to connect and share resources. If you are interested in joining the MS Teams group, please sign up on the Education Initiative web page below.

SMACNA Supply Closet
Another issue that is possibly facing contractors this fall is limited PPE supplies. If COVID peaks again, we could have issues with the supply chain. As such, SMACNA-WW has procured Clorox Wipes, sanitizer, face masks and other PPE.

These items will be available to members free of charge (within reason). We will be sending out an inventory sheet to all SMACNA-WW members informing them of our supply closet. We are branding the items with a SMACNA-WW sticker. Just another way to show everyone we are here for them and in this together.
COVID-19 Testing
Holmberg Mechanical provided free Covid and Covid Antibody testing to their employees and opened the testing to members. SMACNA-WW provided the boxed lunches. As follows is a link for the video created during the testing day:
