North Dufferin Baseball League Recognizes Mulmur's 175th Anniversary

The Township of Mulmur was honoured to receive a commemorative certificate from the North Dufferin Baseball League (NDBL) in recognition of Mulmur's 175th anniversary.

The certificate was presented by NDBL Secretary Scott Anderson during the NDBL All-Star Game in Mansfield on July 5, 2026.

The All-Star Game also provided an opportunity to celebrate the rich history of the North Dufferin Baseball League, with the historic Strother Cup (awarded to the Senior Division champions since 1931) and the Anderson Trophy (presented annually to the Junior Division champions) on display throughout the day.

The Township extends its sincere thanks to the North Dufferin Baseball League for this thoughtful recognition and for their continued contribution to our community's sporting heritage.

Community Recognition: Celebrating Cole Carlson

Council recognized lifelong Mulmur resident Cole Carlson for his dedication to Special Olympics Dufferin and the Dufferin County Polar Plunge.

Cole was first introduced to Special Olympics in 2007 through his school’s athletic programming, competing in Provincial School Championships earning medals in track and field. In 2015, he joined Special Olympics Dufferin as a member of the Dufferin Thunder curling team and has since participated in basketball, soccer, bocce, pickleball, track and field, and swimming.

Cole began participating in the Dufferin Polar Plunge in 2022 and has been the top fundraiser in both 2025 and 2026, raising nearly $3,000 on his own this past year.

In recognition of his 2026 fundraising achievement, Dufferin County OPP presented Cole with a wrestling belt. To date, The Dufferin County Polar Plunge has raised approximately $450,000 for Special Olympics.

Special Olympics Dufferin is entirely volunteer-run and continues to grow throughout the community, with programs offered in Orangeville, Shelburne and Mulmur.

Beyond his accomplishments as an athlete and fundraiser, Cole is known as a dedicated teammate and natural cheerleader, always encouraging and celebrating his fellow athletes. Council presented Cole with a certificate in recognition of his enthusiasm, sportsmanship and dedication, and for demonstrating true leadership and community spirit.

The Township is proud to celebrate the contributions of local athletes like Cole and the positive impact they have on our community.
