My dog, Jada, has an arch nemesis who lives down the street. Her name is Molly. Molly and Jada go absolutely wild when they see each other, and not wild in a good way. Funny thing, sometimes when we see Molly, I will pick up my dog and hold her. When I hold Jada, she stops barking, but that is when I notice her shaking. It would seem as though Jada (and probably Molly) are a bit frightened of each other and each one barks at the other to give off the "don't mess with me" vibe.
Don't misread me, Jada has a warm personality and is a very friendly dog, but she's not welcoming to everyone and everything. She clearly likes to protect herself and us against potential threats like other neighborhood dogs, the mailman, the garbage man, school buses and pretty much anything that moves.
