International Overdose Awareness Day is August 31. This year’s theme, “One big family, driven by hope,” speaks to the heart of recovery housing. A strong recovery home is more than just a roof, it’s a family. A place to rebuild, where connections are restored and individuals are supported in their recovery journey.

As we recognize International Overdose Awareness Day, we honor those we’ve lost and we recommit to our mission of certifying homes where hope, safety, and belonging are the foundation.

Portraits of Loss, Stories of Hope

The INTO LIGHT Project is a national exhibition that uses art and storytelling to shift the conversation around addiction. Each show features up to 41 graphite portraits of state residents lost to drug addiction or poisoning, paired with written narratives that honor their lives.

Titled “Drug Addiction: Real People, Real Stories,” the exhibition offers a powerful reminder of the human cost of addiction. At its close, families receive their loved one’s framed portrait and a catalog of stories as a lasting tribute.

Upcoming Training: Mission, Vision & Values

In partnership with Grandmaison Recovery, NHPRR invites recovery homeowners, operators, and staff to a one-hour in-person training focused on strengthening the foundation of your program through mission, vision, and values.

Led by Persephanie Lesperance and Haly Seidensticker, this training will explore how clearly defined values and a strong mission can help shape house culture, guide decision making, and support long-term success in recovery housing.

Date: Friday, September 12th

Time: 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM

Location: 1528 Elm St, Manchester, NH – Room 164

RSVP to Laura Wargo at laura.wargo@growthpartners.llc or reach out via our contact form if you don't want to email.

Download a print-ready training flyer to share with your recovery home, recovery center, or community partners.

Posting this flyer locally or passing it along to colleagues is a simple way to raise awareness and encourage participation. Together, we can make sure operators, staff, and community members have access to the tools and training that strengthen recovery housing across New Hampshire.
