The fall semester is off and running and, once again, Sigma Chi had a successful fall rush! While being popular is a great thing, it’s not without its challenges. The AU Chapter house is becoming increasingly crowded as more brothers deserve to have the “live-in” experience that provides invaluable leadership skills and builds unbreakable, lifelong bonds.

The Heat Returns!
‘Miami Vice’ Re-boot Movie Makes
Kerry McCluggage, 76 Proud
The buzz is already big for the new “Miami Vice ‘85” movie (in pre-production) - the latest rendition of the groundbreaking and popular TV show in the 1980s. 42 years after its debut, Miami Vice is returning again, with the new venture, starring Michael B. Jordan and Austin, planned for theatrical release in May 2028
Kerry McCluggage (AU 1976), the entertainment executive who helped develop and sell the concept with a writer “he recruited to Universal Television, Anthony Yerkovich, says he couldn’t be prouder of their previous effort. In his long career, Kerry played key roles in developing Magnum P.I. (including hiring Brother Tom Selleck and insisting he be the star), Battlestar Galactica, Murder She Wrote, The Equalizer, Northern Exposure, Knight Rider, The A-Team, Law & Order and theatricals Out of Africa and The Breakfast Club. At Paramount, Kerry developed and sold Frasier, JAG, NCIS, co-founded UPN, and now has his own production company, Craftsman Films.

The Goats are Back!
On August 7, The Goats gathered at Strawberry Farms Golf Club in Irvine for the 6th year. With perfect weather and a challenging round of golf (it’s not easy to grip a club with hooves), the competition was followed by an evening of food, drinks, and fun at the home of RJ, ’77.
For six years in a row, the brothers have enjoyed and an evening of reminiscing about the good old days while creating new memories to share. This cherished tradition brings together Trojan Sigs from pledge classes spanning from 1973 to 1981 and celebrates the enduring brotherhood and strength of the AU Chapter.

We Are the Champions
Alpha Upsilon has once again demonstrated its commitment to excellence, earning the 2026 J. Dwight Peterson Significant Chapter Award, one of Sigma Chi’s highest honors. The award recognizes chapters that excel across all areas of chapter operations, including academics, philanthropy, recruitment and Ritual performance.
Presented during the 2025 Krach Transformational Leaders Workshop at Bowling Green State University, the Peterson Award recognized 78 Sigma Chi chapters across North America for their achievements and continued improvement. Congratulations to Alpha Upsilon for this outstanding recognition and for representing the best of Sigma Chi at USC! Is anyone surprised? We didn't think so... ✌️

The Four Pillars Capital Campaign
With over 43% of funds raised to build a new chapter house, we are on our way to securing the legacy of AU alums and building a future home for incoming Trojan Sigs. The house will be built to the highest contemporary standards so that our investment will serve the Chapter for many years to come and secure our place as the most prestigious and sought-after fraternity at USC.
Additionally, all donors will be invited to the groundbreaking and opening ceremonies to celebrate being a part of the over 100-year history of the Alpha Upsilon Chapter of Sigma Chi.
