Moll Law Group filed its first lawsuit on behalf of Barbara Ross, a Chicago woman who was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2014 when she was just 39 years old following her use of Johnson & Johnson Baby Powder and Shower to Shower. The complaint was filed in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois alleging that the Defendants knew or should have known about the hazards associated with the use of its products and negligently failed to warn consumers.

Judge Reduces $500 Million De Puy Hip Implant Verdict to $151 Million
Earlier last month, a federal district court judge entered an order reducing a jury’s verdict awarding a plaintiff $500 million in damages in a product liability lawsuit involving DePuy Orthopedics, a subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson, to $151 million. The jury’s verdict was returned in March 2016 and reflected compensation for five different plaintiffs who claimed they suffered injuries as a result of receiving a Pinnacle metal-on-metal hip implant device.

IKEA Recalls 29 Million Chests and Dressers After Numerous Child Deaths and Injuries
Recently, international furniture and home goods retailer IKEA initiated a recall of 29 million chests and dressers that have been linked to at least six child deaths that date all the way back to 1989, as well as at least 36 injuries. Based in Sweden, IKEA is the largest retailer of furniture in the world. The accidents occur when the dressers’ drawers are pulled out and children climb on the drawers like a staircase. The weight of the child tips the dresser or chest over and crushes them beneath it.

FDA Warns Consumers Against Consuming Raw Dough After E. Coli Contaminated Flour Identified
he U.S. Food & Drug Administration has recently issued a new warning instructing consumers to avoid eating raw cookie dough or any other batter, even if it does not contain eggs. The agency first expressed its concern about consumers’ tendency to chew on raw dough before cooking it in 2009, when an E. coli outbreak affected raw dough products. The investigation following the outbreak revealed that a number of consumers were not aware of the dangers that can result from consuming uncooked dough products.

Philadelphia Jury Awards $70 Million Verdict in Risperdal Breast Growth Case
A Philadelphia jury recently awarded a 16-year-old teenager who suffered injuries after taking Risperdal $70 million in compensation. The manufacturer of the drug is Johnson & Johnson, a major international pharmaceutical and health care products company. According to the teenager’s complaint, Johnson & Johnson failed to provide appropriate warnings with the drug that it could cause him to grow breasts, referred to in the medical community as gynecomastia. According to his complaint, the plaintiff started taking Risperdal when he was five years old to address a psychiatric disorder.

Wright Medical Appeals $11 Million Verdict in First Conservis Hip Implant Case
Wright Medical, a manufacturer of hip implants and other medical devices, has asked a federal appellate court to overrule a jury’s verdict in the first bellwether trial to take place in the Conserve metal-on-metal hip implant MDL
, which is situated in the Northern District of Georgia. According to the company, a new trial is justified because it believes that the jury was allowed to take two bites at the apple.

Man Paralyzed After Diving into Pond at State Park Unable to Recover Compensation Due to Recreational Use Statute
In a recent case before a state appellate court, a 29-year-old man dove into a pond at a park and broke his neck. Sadly, the man was paralyzed from the neck down as a result. His wife and he filed a claim against the state, alleging negligence and premises liability. At trial, a witness testified that there were “no swimming” signs posted at the recently filled pond, and the state planned to staff the swim area. On the day that the man dove in, there were other people swimming in the pond. The man testified that he thought the water looked deep enough, and he did a shallow dive into the water, but he did not check the depth of the water.

Bed rails are used in nursing homes to prevent residents from falling out of bed, to help them get in and out of bed more easily, and to help them reposition themselves more easily. Boy Killed in Skateboarding Accident Barred from Compensation Because He Assumed the Risks of the Activity
Two brothers were skateboarding in a resort town when one of the brothers tragically died in a skateboarding accident. The two brothers had been riding their skateboards down a hill when one boy’s skateboard hit a small gap between the road and the concrete surrounding a manhole cover. The skateboard stopped, and the boy was thrown from the board. The boy was not wearing a helmet and suffered a traumatic brain injury. He ultimately died as a result.

Ken Moll, President of Moll Law Group, proudly supports Lincoln Park Zoo, a free 35-acre zoo located in Lincoln Park, Chicago. Zoo Ball is an annual event held in which funds are raised to support the creation of state-of-the-art exhibits that inspire connection.
This year's Zoo Ball themed "Penguins in Paradise" had more than 900 people in attendance and helped raise over $1.35 Million. Pictured are Ken Moll and his wife, Mary Claire Moll, at the event.
