For the closing night of the 45th Asian American International Film Festival, we celebrate NYC's Chinatown and the AAIFF alums that have graced its streets!
This program ties together three shorts by noted AAIFF alum filmmakers, accompanied with archival footage from Asian CineVision’s early days:
- A Father’s Son, directed by Patrick Chen, tells the tale of Jack Yu, a Chinese American detective in the heart of Chinatown.
- Dear Corky, directed by Curtis Chin, is a touching tribute to Chinatown’s longtime resident, friend, and photographer, Corky Lee.
- From Spikes to Spindles, directed by Christine Choy, explores the lives of early Chinatown residents as they learned and lived.
Our closing screening will take place at the Asia Society and Museum (725 Park Place, New York, NY 10021), after which there will be a filmmaker Q&A and reception.
Presented by Asian Cine Vision and sponsored by Third World Newsreel.
