How To Manage Media
Many parents are frustrated with how to manage the use of electronic media at home. There are so many options now: video game consoles, television, tablets, smartphones. It can be overwhelming.
A good place to start is to create a Family Media Use Plan. Start by thinking TECH!
T: TALK to your kids about media use and monitor their activity
E: Educate them about the risks of media, especially around advertising
C: Co-view and co-use media with your kids
H: House Rules-establish media-free zones (bedrooms!) and media-free times (meals!)
You can work on your own Family Plan here!
And Here's Why Managing Media Use is Important
A recent study in the Journal of the American Medical Association demonstrates a clear link between electronic media use and ADHD in teens. Teens with frequent media use were much more likely to develop symptoms of ADHD than those teens without frequent use. That's why it's important for families to monitor and limit the use of electronic media in their kids.

Lawn Mower Safety
More than 9,000 kids visit the ER every year due to lawn mower injuries. Make sure yours isn't one of them.
  • We recommend not allowing children to use a walk-behind mower until the age of 12
  • We recommend not allowing use of a ride-on mower until age 16
  • Make sure kids are well clear of the area being mowed.
  • NEVER allow children to ride along on a ride-on mower.
