Welcome our new Board Member
Jim Wilkirson
Jim is a native of Jackson and a graduate of Vanderbilt University. He is the past executive director of the Fondren Renaissance Foundation.

Jim is married to the former Audrey Hunter and together they have three children; Clarke, a rising senior at Alabama, Hunter, a recent graduate of Jackson Academy and Fran, a rising 10th grader at JA. They attend Galloway Memorial United Methodist Church. 

Jim Wilkirson is the newly named Chief Advancement Officer for Jackson Academy overseeing fundraising and alumni affairs as well as marketing, communications, parent led groups and special events. Very active within our community, he is extremely versed in city and local government maintaining a mentorship role with a number of our local area nonprofits.

Community Improvement ensures the health and safety of City of Jackson residents through elimination of overgrown properties, accumulation of junk, debris, abandoned vehicles and dilapidated and burned structures. 

If you see a property in a condition similar to the one below, please call the City of Jackson Community Improvement office at (601) 960-1054. Make sure you are able to provide a street address.

Meadowbrook Bridge Update
Voting to accept the bid of Hemphill Construction Company to repair the Meadowbrook Bridge is on the City Council agenda for Tuesday, August 5th. Be on the lookout for upcoming construction.

Sophomore Spanish Club - The latest restaurant in the District will open this month. Ray-Scott Miller and chef de cuisine Jesse Houston have teamed up again to open Sophomore Spanish Club - Spanish food with a '90s flare. The duo first teamed up to create Fine & Dandy. Geraldine and Esma's Kitchen - The owners of Crazy Cat Eat Up have done it again! Now open in Canton Mart Square, Geraldine and Esma's Kitchen prepares homemade meals to take home for your family supper. With dishes like meatloaf, tomato pie, butter beans, buttermilk pie, and mac & cheese, their menu changes daily so be sure to check their Facebook page for today's delight here .

All Hands Create - Former Jackson Academy teacher Avery Truitt has recently opened All Hands Create - a new art studio offering classes for children and adults. LeFleur Museum District
The LeFleur Museum District (LMD) is having their great STEM-themed festival, Mississippi Science Fest (MSF) on Saturday, September 21st.

All four museums will host a day dedicated to promoting STEM subjects (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) and increasing science literacy.
