LDR Weekend
August 30-September 1, Chattanooga TN.
Being an African American member of a majority culture church comes with a unique set of challenges. It’s hard to be the only one and be the representative voice for diversity. It’s challenging to desire authentic relationships, yet feel isolated and misunderstood. We need to be honest about our reality and seek solutions that help us bear fruit where God has placed us. Yet God’s solutions tend to be radically different from our own.
Come join us for a time of sound teaching, vibrant worship and rich fellowship. Return home overflowing with hope and confidence rooted in Jesus Christ.

God is at work through the PCA in seeing an average of a church planter going to the field every week. And God is calling his people to new commitments in advancing the gospel in communities where a PCA church is already established. Take a look at this picture of two local church settings, and contact MNA to explore further resources in developing ministry through your church.

MNA Chaplain Ministries Announces Its New Associate Endorser for Civilian Chaplains
Michael Stewart has accepted the position of Associate Endorser of Civilian Chaplaincy for the Presbyterian and Reformed Commission on Chaplains and Military Personnel (PRCC). Jim Carter is thankful that Mike and Jeri will soon be joining our staff and is encouraged to have a spiritual leader of Mike’s caliber and experience serving our growing civilian ministry. Mike brings over two decades of Chaplaincy and Hospital Chaplaincy experience as well as supervisory leadership as an ordained PCA Minister. I would ask you to be in prayer for Mike as he begins his new ministry with the PRCC on September 1, 2019. He will have a busy month as he transitions from his Director of Pastoral Care for Piedmont Columbus Regional Hospital where he has served for twenty years and helped transform a ministry culture. God has richly blessed our Civilian Chaplain ministry and we are excited to see how it will continue to develop under Mike’s pastoral care. Learn more about Chaplain Ministries

Parakaleo Helps Women Press On In Ministry
What helps you press on in ministry? How about training, support—and a small visual reminder of the gospel?
Visitors to Parakaleo’s booth at this year’s General Assembly in Dallas crafted “Press On” cards to tuck in their wallets or prop above their sinks. They decorated small cards with favorite Bible verses, Parakaleo phrases such as “the verdict is in!,” markers and dried flowers. After laminating them, even non-crafty visitors were pleased with the results! Parakaleo also hosted two booth talks and a drawing for a $600 discount toward our October Basic Training retreat.

Update on MNA Native American/First Nations Ministry
MNA Native American/First Nations Ministries Coordinator Jeb Bland has a brief report on developments in the ministry:
- In June of this year a Native American. Joshua Tsavatewa (Hopi), was ordained as a Teaching Elder at Hope Fellowship Church, a ministry of Sacred Roads Ministry. He will also continue his work at Sacred Road Ministries.
- At this past meeting of the Tennessee Valley Presbytery an affirmative vote was taken to approve the recommendation for a church plant in Soddy Daisy TN. This church plant will target Native Americans living in that area. Greg Baney (Cherokee/Choctaw), currently a TE at Hixson PCA, along with his wife Trisha were approved to church plant.
- Jonas Patterson (Native Hawaiian) received his Master of Divinity from Westminster in Pennsylvania. He and his family have relocated to Billings MNA to serve an Internship at Great Plains Gathering, where Josh Charette (Turtle Mountain Chippewa) serves as the founding Pastor.

The PCA Unity Fund
Out of 4,882 Teaching Elders in the PCA, only 1% are African American, .8% Hispanic American, and 10% Korean/Korean American.
The PCA Unity Fund aims to increase these numbers through training, mentoring and developing minority leadership in the PCA, primarily through providing tuition subsidies to support training at reformed institutions.
Because of the PCA’s Unity Fund, 41 seminary tuition subsidy recipients are currently getting financial and mentoring help to become Teaching Elders.

Jefferson Hills, PA
Peter and Jamye Doerfler are in the midst of several summer events at
Redemption Hill Church but have two big prayer needs. 1. They recently learned that the township may try to seize the fire hall in which they currently worship via eminent domain; 2. Through serving one of the men in their church who is recovering from a cochlear implant and who will be deaf for the next few months, their church is actively exploring ministry to the deaf and hard of hearing. They are asking for prayer as they seek resources and knowledge on how to serve the Deaf community. Click

Considering Church Planting?
|
|
“I’m leaving feeling that this is one of the best things I’ve seen going on in the PCA.”…
Fantastic week of learning, growing, stretching, and fellowship…Appreciate all the encouragement. ”
Considering Church Planting?
Then the MNA Assessment Center is for you.
The cost of assessment is less than half of one month’s salary and operating expenses for a typical church plant, and a very wise investment that individuals, churches and presbyteries can make in starting a new church
.
The next open Assessment date is November 19-22 with an application deadline of September 23.
Please plan ahead! An absolute three week lead time minimum is required prior to each application deadline in order to apply, and we often run at capacity. Not convinced? Here are a few more kudos for MNA Assessment:
“The assessors were the most valuable component of the AC… Loved the process, conversations, insight and the people. This is a life-long memory that I will certainly cherish…Getting the opportunity to learn from others in church planting and peers interested in serving the Lord in a similar way. It doesn’t happen often in the “real world” context and I felt supported and encouraged and challenged…. So much grace and love for those attending…I loved assessment, was encouraged and I’m leaving feeling that this is one of the best things I’ve seen going on in the PCA.”
