Dear Friends,
I grew up in a church that had a food pantry. Every Sunday I would enter the narthex and see the barrel marked with “SnowCap” in which we would drop off non-perishable items. When I was little, I didn’t understand the larger story of how my congregation worked with others in the region to ensure food was available for neighbors in need. What I knew, was any food added to the barrel would help someone else. It became a spiritual practice. As a member of the youth group we did food drives, CROP Walks, and took a tour of the pantry. My high school even did food drives with a competitive spin for class points.
Sharing does not mean “less.” Sharing builds community, strengthens faith, and help heal broken places. I am grateful that sharing food and fellowship was planted in my heart as a young child. I am grateful to continue this calling to share food and fellowship to the best of my ability.
As the staff of SSKP continues to navigate expressed need beyond that at the height of the pandemic we continue to do our best to ensure all our neighbors have access to food. The need is high, the cost of food & supplies are high, and the commitment of our volunteers and staff are equally high! We can do this…together!
With gratitude,
Amy
