As the COVID-19 pandemic persists, I continue to be cautious about running the business while caring for our customers, staff & community members. It crosses my mind daily how strange it is to simultaneously want more customers to come and advocate taking all precautions (including staying home) to reduce the spread of this virus.
It is such a joy to see customers again, and I feel we've been able to provide a safe environment for everyone to shop. Remember we do have private shopping appointments available each morning from 11am - 12pm if you want an even more socially-distanced experience.
Everyone asks, "how's it going?" The truth is it's still pretty slow. Since re-opening mid-June, overall sales are about 60% of normal for this time of year, which is already a slow season. Two Big Blondes will survive! But, it's not easy either. Revenue will determine when I can rehire more staff and expand hours. It also affects profits for consignors! If you do consign with us, it's as if you're a co-owner - the more you support the store through spreading the word and shopping yourself, the more successful we'll be at selling your items!
I thank all the supporters who have given to Two Big Blondes directly through donations of clothing & part of your consignment sales - it all helps us get through this tough time.
We're focused right now on having a safe storewide sale - we want everyone to get great deals and reduce the risk of exposure! Next, this fall we'll be unveiling a new online shopping experience. I hope the impacts of COVID-19 will improve over the next few months, but if not, we will always put the health & safety of our community first.
You are all amazing and I appreciate your support through all of this! Remember to shop small in your local neighborhood too - the money you spend at small businesses goes more directly into the communities where the money is spent!
