Alleghany-Covington School Consolidation Awarded VACo's 2023 Best Achievement Award

The Alleghany-Covington School Consolidation program was awarded this year’s Best Achievement Award from the Virginia Association of Counties (VACo) through their annual Achievement Awards Program.

“What Alleghany County achieved is historic – a feat that has been accomplished only three times in the Commonwealth since 1982,” said awards judge, Dr. Sheryl Bailey.

Hamilton Roots is a small houseplant shop located in downtown Clifton Forge that opened in April 2022. The shop sells common and more rare houseplants and offers repotting services and classes for locals on subjects such as propagation and potting. The shop began growing microgreens over 9 months ago and has now sold to restaurants and farmer's markets!
