Renew Your ERC Membership
August is ERC membership renewal month!

For nearly 25 years, the generosity and passion of community members like you has allowed the Environmental Resource Center (ERC) to provide year-round, experiential outreach programs that provide education and inspire action to cultivate a healthy environment.  Most of the ERC's programs are offered free of charge .

We could not provide these programs without your generous support. Please consider joining or renewing your membership today and doing your part in educating and activating our community to create a healthier environment.

Keep reading to find out specifically what we have been working on thanks to your generosity this summer!
Youth Education
Another successful summer!

EcoCamps

We spent the last two weeks of July at the Idaho BaseCamp  facilitating two week-long sessions of overnight EcoCamp. Highlights of camp this year included backpacking to Bellas Lake, sampling macroinvertebrates, creating skits about the Leave No Trace principles and playing games by the campfire each evening. For more stories about EcoCamp, check out our blog, and to see pictures of our explorations and adventures, visit our Facebook  page.

This year we were able to offer $2,475 in scholarships to 40% of EcoCampers thanks to the support of the Campfire Foundation
Idaho Fish and Wildlife Foundation, Lightfoot Foundation, and Rocky Mountain Hardware.

  Youth Collaborative Programs
This summer we led environmental education programs for Higher Ground Sun Valley, The Hunger Coalition, BCRD, YMCA, I Have a Dream Foundation, Sun Valley Company and more!

The ERC is honored to be a part of the programming at these organizations. Together we can create a healthy and resilient community!

Pesticide Action
Wood River Insectary Update
Our  Pesticide Action  summer intern, Kim Kishimoto, has been hard at work maintaining the Wood River Insectary under the guidance of USFS Botanist and ERC Board Member, Deb Taylor. The insectary is growing knapweed-eating insects.

In collaboration with the Forest Service, Kim and ERC Program Director, Alisa, provided a program about noxious weeds at the YMCA's summer camp. Campers were able to observe live weevils from the insectary in their larval, pupal and adult stages.

Pick Up for the Planet (PUP)
Help us cultivate a healthy local environment!

The ERC's PUP program provides dog waste bags, educational signage and weekly bin servicing at 16 trailheads valley wide. This summer alone we have diverted 100 33-gallon bags of dog waste!
