BOOTS IN THE BARNYARD: CLARK FARMS
Clark Farms is a fourth generational dairy farm in Delhi, NY. The farm was first purchased in 1907 and remained a traditional dairy until it's recent addition of an on-site creamery. Kyle Clark and his father Tom own and operate the farm today.

Throughout the years Clark Farms has been a voluntary participant with the agricultural program at the Watershed Agricultural Council (WAC). WAC has implemented various Best Management Practices like a manure storage, has developed a Nutrient Management Plan that the farm follows to earn Nutrient Management Credits, installed cover crops, liming, rotational grazing, and the farm is enrolled in the Precision Feed Management Program. WAC STAFF MEMBER COMPETES IN DEPOSIT LUMBERJACK FESTIVAL
On July 17th, WAC staff member Heather Hilson was the first woman ever to compete at the Deposit Lumberjack Festival's Game of Logging Competition. Heather first started taking the chainsaw safety trainings to better understand what loggers do in her position as Forestry Program Outreach Specialist at WAC. Having taken Game of Logging Training Levels 1-4 she was eligible to compete. With encouragement from trainer Bill Lindloff and the other participating loggers, Heather placed 7th out of 8 competitors. Bill used the competition as an opportunity to show the spectators that women too could use a chainsaw. The Game of Logging training is offered to loggers through the Forestry Program as part of their logger training efforts and focuses on chainsaw safety, maintenance, and precision felling techniques.
