Doubt-filled prayers aren't a pattern for us to follow. They can, however, reveal God's character. In the July 14 Daily Bread Devotional, it shared this story:
"Jay owned a Gideon Bible, but his analytical mind didn't permit him to accept its miracles. He prayed, "If You want me to believe in You, then do something I can't explain." One day, he realized his own Bible was missing. As he arrived at his teaching job at the University of Zurich on a rainy day, he noticed a Gideon Bible lying on the wet pavement. When he picked it up, he discovered it was completely dry, despite the rain. It was something he couldn't explain."
The article concludes by saying that Jay placed his faith in Christ, recognizing that God had answered his honest prayer in a way he could not explain. God is always at work—even when we cannot see it. Like Gideon, there are times when we long for reassurance that the Lord is with us. While our faith is rooted in God's Word rather than miraculous signs, He often reminds us of His presence in unexpected ways.
Many have asked how I am doing, and I'm thankful to say, so far, so good. I'm taking what feels like a bazillion pills each day to help stop the cancer's growth, and next week I'll meet with my radiation oncologist to discuss the next phase of treatment. One day at a time, I'm trusting the Lord. I don't know exactly what lies ahead, but I know who goes before me. God has been faithful in the past, and I have every reason to believe He will continue to be faithful in the days ahead.

We will have worship, conferences, testimonies, our Seminary graduation, and activities for all ages. Our guest speakers are Dr. Jim Smith, President of PCN and CB Global; Pastor Rigoberto Reyes, Missionary of Missions Door; and Pastor Rafael Canada of Connect Global. All churches are invited to participate by preparing an informational table about their missionaries, sharing a presentation of their current missionary activities, or considering adopting a missionary that day.

Reaching Out in Big Bear City
Cornerstone Christian Fellowship
| We thought we'd introduce one of the newest members of the Pacific Church Network Board, Pastor Devon London. Since 2016, Devon has faithfully served as the bi-vocational pastor of Cornerstone Christian Fellowship in Big Bear City while also working full-time on the Security Team at California Baptist University. (That's one reason our Inland Empire PCN Pastors' Lunch is occasionally held at CBU—they have a terrific cafeteria!) Devon and his wife, Najma, have been married for 32 years and are the proud parents of three grown children. Devon was born in Guyana, South America, and Najma was born in Kenya, Africa. Their paths crossed while attending San Francisco State University—a wonderful reminder of how God brings people together from different continents to accomplish His purposes. It's amazing how God orchestrates lives. A man from Guyana and a woman from Kenya met at a university in California, and today they are faithfully serving Christ together in the mountains of Southern California. We are thankful God has brought Devon to the Pacific Church Network Board and look forward to serving alongside him! | |

PCN Church Planting in SoCal
Union Church, San Clemente, CA
| Union Church launched in March 2018. This PCN church plant has continued to grow while meeting in various locations throughout San Clemente. Even during COVID, the church gathered faithfully in a local park—with no restrooms! Pastor Aaron, a San Clemente native who came to faith in college, and his wife, Madeline, are raising their four children—Haddon, Mabel, Laura, and Charlotte—in the community they love. The church recently wrapped up its two-year Building Home campaign, purchasing a permanent property and making steady progress through the city's approval process. PCN is excited to see Union Church getting closer to opening the doors to its first permanent home and celebrating all God has done through this growing congregation. | |

Your hosts for Table Talks will be Tracy and Debra Weaver. They have over 45 years of Pastoral Ministry and Leadership experience. Pastor Tracy leads Sierra Baptist Church (PCN) in Independence, CA. Debra serves as a corporate chaplain through Marketplace Chaplains. Tracy and Debra have four adult married children and twelve grandchildren. They have experienced the full spectrum of highlights and heartaches in pastoral ministry. One of their greatest joys is investing in the lives of ministry leaders.

Anne Redman

Anne Redman completed her earthly ministry at 7:00 a.m. on July 11, 2026, and peacefully entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Anne was the beloved wife of John Redman, who served as President of Pacific Church Network (then known as the Conservative Baptist Association of Southern California) from 1996 to 2006.
Together, John and Anne were a remarkable ministry team whose warmth, kindness, and genuine love for people made them a joy to be around. Born on January 1, 1936, in Dumbarton, Scotland, Anne married John on October 25, 1965. Throughout their years of ministry, they faithfully served the Lord in Great Britain, the Philippines, and later at Mapleview Baptist Church in Lakeside, California, where John served as Lead Pastor before becoming President of CBSC. Following John's retirement from CBSC, they moved to Florida and later settled in Georgia to be near their children.
In Anne's final years, John devoted himself to caring for her with unwavering love and faithfulness, reflecting the deep commitment that characterized their marriage. John wrote...
"Anne was a truly wonderful pastor's wife and a terrific mother to our two sons, Stephen and Andrew, while proving also to be a gracious hostess to the many visitors who stayed in our home from time to time. While conducting the graveside service, with a large crowd present, many of whom were unsaved, I paused in the middle of the message to say, "I'm going to say something now which may be quite a surprise to some of you here." Pointing to the casket, I then said, "My beloved wife Anne is not in that casket." Quite a murmur went through the crowd, and the mortuary staff looked very concerned. I continued, "The casket only contains Anne's earthly remains." I added, "Anne is not an angel. Anne is not 'somewhere 'up there,' looking down on us and smiling." The Bible clearly tells us where she is:2 Corinthians 5:8: "Absent from the body, present with the Lord."Psalm 16:11: "In Your Presence is fullness of joy. At your right hand are treasures forevermore."As I drove away from the cemetery, I was suddenly overwhelmed with a glorious sense of peace beyond my ability to describe."
Anne leaves behind a legacy of faithful service, gracious hospitality, steadfast love for her family, and a life devoted to Christ. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her, but we rejoice in the assurance that she is now in the presence of the Savior she faithfully served throughout her life.

Hope Found Amidst Chaos

In Myanmar, God is working despite the terrible political situation, which is not improving. In some areas, it is becoming even more difficult. This civil war began in 2021. In May 2026, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) reported that around 299,000 people had fled to neighboring countries. Pastor Timothy Mang has traveled to hold evangelistic meetings for the Chin people who have fled the country in Tokyo, Japan, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Bangkok, Thailand, and Zokhawthar, a village on the India side of the Myanmar–India border. While in India, 23 people were born again and received water baptism. Again, in the second week of April, a Salvation Camp was held in the same village. A total of 56 people attended, and 14 of them accepted Christ and were baptized in water. All of them are refugees. Praise the Lord! Although they are facing many physical hardships, they have received eternal salvation. During the Buddhist Water Festival, in the third week of April, missionaries in their respective mission fields, along with five churches at the Bible Campus, conducted three-day Salvation Campaigns in each location. We praise the Lord that a total of 1,210 people attended these camps. Among them, 145 accepted Christ, and 24 received water baptism.
In the country, Timothy continues to serve at the Biblical School of Theology, which currently has 122 students. Several of these students came from areas severely affected by the civil war. They endured many hardships and dangers as they traveled from conflict zones to attend Bible college. To improve the training ministry, the Bible college needs two desktop computers for student use. Each computer costs approximately $700USD. In addition, their students need 20 bicycles to expand their outreach ministry. Each bicycle costs about $90USD. Every Saturday is devoted to evangelistic outreach, and every Sunday morning, many of their students travel to conduct children's ministries in surrounding communities. 1. Passport (and a Copy)
Your passport is your most important travel document. Keep a digital and printed copy separate from the original in case it is lost or stolen.
2. Travel Insurance Policy Information
Carry your policy number, emergency assistance contact information, and a summary of your coverage. If you need medical care, experience a travel delay, or lose baggage, having this information readily available can save valuable time.
3. Flight and Transportation Itineraries
Keep copies of your flight confirmations, boarding passes, train tickets, and other transportation reservations. These documents may be needed when filing travel delay or missed connection claims.
4. Accommodation Confirmations
Hotel, rental property, or tour booking confirmations serve as proof of your travel plans and can be helpful if reservations are disputed or documentation is needed for an insurance claim.
5. Medical Information and Prescriptions
