A Healing Week at Camp Good Grief 25
|
This July, 124 campers (ages 4-17) from Suffolk and Nassau Counties and the Tri-State area shared a healing week of therapy and fun at Camp Good Grief. Campers opened up about the deaths of parents, siblings, and loved ones, learned new skills to express their feelings, and, most importantly, met other kids just like them.
More than 90 volunteers and staff, our Valentine Luncheon Supporters, generous donors, and businesses made Camp possible and free of charge to all participating families.
News 12 and the Southampton Press helped mark Camp's 25th season.

20th Anniversary Box Art Auction
Scheduled for August 28
A time-honored tradition, the Box Art Auction benefiting East End Hospice will take place Saturday, August 28th at St. Luke’s Church Hoie Hall in East Hampton (18 James Lane).
More than 80 artists created memorable boxes for this anniversary auction, including nine artists who have participated every year since the event’s inception and others who are participating for the first time.
Artists transform cigar and wine boxes -- using the box inside and out as a canvas or base -- in styles ranging from traditional landscapes to abstract. This year's auction represents ceramic, sculpture, painting, collage, assemblage, and needlework on fabric.
This year's highlights include a raffle for a box that incorporates a sculpture by renowned artist William King, a Box Art Auction artist for many years.
The Spirit of Community Award will be presented to Don Sussis, a stalwart and generous Box Art Auction and East End Hospice supporter.
Boxes can be previewed at Hoie Hall on Wednesday, August 25th, and Thursday, August 26th, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. A "Meet the Artists" preview reception is open to the public on Wednesday, August 25th, from 5-7 p.m. Boxes can be viewed on the Hospice website; click here.
At the benefit on August 28th, a silent auction will begin at 4:30 p.m., and the live auction will begin at 5:45, with Lucas Hunt as Auctioneer. Wine and hors d'oeuvres are included in the $100 benefit ticket price.
