The County Council voted on its July legislation on Monday, July 29th.
I was proud to pass several bills this month with my colleagues on the County Council, including CB37-2019, legislation clarifying the calculated number of Electric Vehicle (EV) charging stations required for certain residential developments.
This legislation amends prior law to ensure that the number of EV stations is rounded up whenever there is an uneven number of charging stations in a development. This bill also ensures that EV stations will be properly demarcated with signs according to Howard County Code.

Since the County Council is on its Legislative Recess, no new legislation will be introduced this month. The Council will return to session on Monday, September 3.

Earlier this week, dozens of communities in Howard County celebrated National Night Out with events, ice cream socials, and pool parties!
Special thanks to our dedicated first responders from the Fire and Police Departments for working with neighborhoods to promote community safety this year. My staff and I were able to visit Long Reach, Owen Brown, Emerson, Huntington, Savage, Ridgely's Run, Jessup, and Canterbury Riding this year!

MMHA's Service Training Academy
|
Maryland Multi-Housing Association teaches 48 students annually (at no cost to the students) the skills needed to be service technicians in apartment communities. The students spend two months in our classroom learning HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and other skills. The third month, students participate in a paid apprenticeship and are then hired by one of our member companies.
The jobs are full-time with benefits and also include a discount on an apartment. More information on the program can be found
