TIPS TO PREVENT CAR BREAK-INS
  • LOCK YOUR DOORS
A 1/4 of entering auto thefts occur from unlocked cars.
KEEP IT TIDY
Any personal item that can be seen from the outside of your vehicle, may be of interest to a crook. Always keep charging cords and shopping bags out of clear view.
  • CONCEAL ALL "HINTS" OF VALUABLES
Hide all electronics and accessories well out of sight or better yet, take those items with you when you leave your vehicle.
  • Hide your purchases
Get into the habit of hiding your purchases once you return your vehicle and not when you park at your next destination of shopping. Thieves will linger in the parking lot and watch where you place those items for easy access once you leave your vehicle and continue shopping.
  • COMPLETELY CLOSE WINDOWS AND SUNROOFS
Open windows disable the pressure sensor in some car alarms.
Entering Autos
Two teens are behind bars with the accusation of a number of car break-ins that occurred in the early morning hours of Tuesday, July 17th at the apartment complex of Sherman Green Apartments. Lumpkin County Sheriff's Deputies were able to recover stolen personal items and a stolen vehicle. The victim of the stolen vehicle noticed his vehicle on the way to work while his girlfriend gave him a ride to work. At least 7 people had their cars broken into at the Sherman Green Apartments.

I would like to thank the Lumpkin County Sheriff's Office Deputies for their quick response resulting in 2 arrests.

SERVING OUR COMMUNITY

Drivers' Education Course
Thank you to all the School Resource Officers for completing another successful Drivers' Education Course for our younger citizens who will soon be driving on our roadways. This is a 30 hour course of instructional classroom time that must be met before a new driver can obtain their driver's license according to the Joshua Law. The Lumpkin County Sheriff's Office offers this course twice a year held during the summer months at no charge. This is one of the many community programs we offer to our citizens. For more information about our community programs, please visit our website www.lumpkincosheriff.com and click on community programs.
