The ACC-St. Louis Chapter’s Litigation Practice Area Network hosted another virtual CLE presentation on July 29 from PAN sponsor Swanson, Martin & Bell, LLP (“SMB”) entitled, “Contractual Provisions that Can Hinder Your Litigation .”

The SMB presenters discussed restrictive covenants, limitation of liability provisions, indemnity provisions, force majeure provisions, and forum selection clauses. They also provided examples of their preferred clauses. Any suggestions for future SMB presentations can be provided by completing the short Online Evaluation which can be found here along with the CLE Certificate and SMB’s presentation.

Practice Area Networks are a unique feature of both the National organization and the ACC-St. Louis Chapter. These networks provide convenient ways to interact and are open to all members. The St. Louis Chapter also has an Employment & Labor PAN and the National organization has twenty-one different PANs. You can view the National PANS here.

As many of us (and our companies) are more fiscally conservative on expenses for activities like CLEs, the initial appeal for me when I joined several years ago were the free CLEs we offer to members. The value of CLEs is far surpassed by the cost of membership, and you can find a wide variety of CLEs in many practice areas, including professional development. I can always get enough CLEs to satisfy my annual requirements through ACC alone.

ACC Membership also brings a lot of additional opportunities to add even more value, including the social activities and ways to meet peers (a plug for the socializing after CLEs, pop-up socials, and Golf/Spa), but also online resources. This includes the ACC/TED Masterclass, which I was selected for this year. ACC continues to be a solid investment!
