The 29th Annual Jubilee Festival of Arts presented by Wind Creek adds a fresh energy by introducing a new name and embracing a wide range of artistic talents. Your favorite artisans will set up beneath the canopy of oaks with original paintings, one-of-a-kind pottery, handcrafted jewelry and thoughtful gifts. Come ready to shop, but don’t miss out on the lively atmosphere. You’ll be treated to cooking competitions, craft demonstrations, pop-up performances and local musicians.
|
|
When it comes to culinary arts, the festival is spicing things up. The Jubilee Festival of Arts committee has teamed up with the World Food Championships to offer two elite qualifier competitions for sandwich-making and the chef’s challenge. Some of the Eastern Shore’s most talented chefs will battle it
out for a chance to compete in the World Food Championships in Orange Beach this November. Food vendors and local restaurants will feature wonderful dining options.
The Jubilee Festival of Arts is also showcasing our local southern makers on the new Thomas Hospital Demonstration Stage. See craftsmanship at its finest and have an opportunity to ask questions from the artists themselves. “The World Food Championships and the southern makers components both
complement the celebratory nature of the Jubilee Festival,” said Eastern Shore Chamber of Commerce Director of Special Events Liz Thomson.
|
A festival favorite, the Kids Art Park will be in Centennial Park. Young artists will get to explore their creative side for free with several fun activities like face painting, jewelry-making, wooden block sculptures and they can leave their handprint on the park fence.
|
Celebrate the performing arts throughout the festival. Dance teams and bands will perform on the Entertainment stage and you will be able to catch pop-up performances from local theatre groups and street performers throughout the weekend.
“The Jubilee Festival evokes that feeling of nostalgia you get watching a sunset on the Eastern Shore or hearing someone cry ‘Jubilee!’ from the bay,” said Thomson, “We hope this year’s festival will also include the same excitement you get at the possibility of experiencing your first Jubilee.”
The Eastern Shore Chamber of Commerce would like to thank everyone who makes the Jubilee Festival of Arts possible: Mayor Dane Haygood, the Daphne City Council, City of Daphne employees, the festival committee and volunteers.
We'd also like to thank our festival sponsors: Wind Creek, Bryant Bank, Southern Cancer Center, Thomas Hospital, Safe Harbor Financial Services, Riviera Utilities, Alabama Public Radio & Alabama Coasting.
Check for entertainment and demonstration stage schedule announcements and festival updates throughout the Jubilee Festival on the Jubilee Festival of Arts Facebook page and website.

During the Summer, many magazines promise to have the best reading lists for summer fun or great reads for the beach. More than once I have thought... who has time to read! Lately, I have gone back to some of my favorite titles to help me navigate those issues that often come up in the business world from time management to communication. So here are a few of my favorite titles and they are not just for summer!
“You Don’t Need a Title to be a Leader” by Mark Sanborn
Great for employees!
“The No Complaining Rule” by Jon Gordon
Imagine a day with no complaining!
“Crucial Conversations” by Patterson, Grenmy, McMilliam & Switzer
I read it every year.
“The Tipping Point” by Malcolm Gladwell
Talk about thinking outside the box!
Anything at all by John Maxwell
“Managing By the Numbers” by C. Kremer & R. Rizzuto
What every business person should know. Thanks Marcus Neto for sharing this one with me.
And the Classics… “How to Win Friends & Influence People” by Dale Carnegie
Can’t go wrong with this one!
”The Power of Positive Thinking” by Norman Vincent Peale
Great for teenagers!
Is there a book that has helped you along the way that you haven’t picked up in a while? Take just 5 minutes a day before you log into your email and nourish you mind. It is amazing what a difference it will make for your day.
