Q: How did you learn about OUR HOUSE?
I first heard about OUR HOUSE at a baby shower where I was seated with Jo-Ann (Lautman). She learned that I was a social worker, asked for my card, and initially called me every several months. At the time I had very young children and didn’t feel the timing was right. When my kids started preschool a number of the parents at the school were involved with OH. I initially got involved with fundraising and when I was ready, went through training and began doing groups 18 years ago.
Q: Why do you continue to volunteer as a group leader?
I feel that it is an honor and a privilege to accompany children on their journey through grief toward hope and healing. It is an extremely rewarding experience witnessing the positive changes group makes to these children’s lives.
Q: In honor of our 25th anniversary, what were you doing when you were 25?
I was working as a Social Worker in County Mental Health.
