HSA Southwest Community, 

August 22nd marked the beginning for yet another school year. It was an amazing day welcoming all of our awesome students back into the school for an exciting school year. There was so much positive energy and enthusiasm amongst the students and staff which resulted in a wildly successful first week of school. I am so proud of all of our students and I know that this is going to be a special school year!

I know to many it seems like the COVID-19 pandemic is a thing of the past and so much normalcy has been returned to our daily lives. Please know that student health and safety remains our number one priority. While many of our practices and routines have resumed to pre-pandemic times, trust that the school is still relying heavily and strictly adhering to the health guidelines outlined by our local health department. We know that if we keep doing the simple things well, then we will have an incredible and uninterrupted school year. 

I am looking forward to so many amazing things this school year. I am excited for all of the learning and growth that all of our students will make this year. Thank you for your partnership on this wonderful educational journey. We couldn't do it without the support of all of the amazing HSA Southwest families. It is a great year to be a Husky!

HSA Southwest had the honor of hosting the regional concept schools teacher institute on Wednesday, August 17th. HSA Southwest staff were joined by teachers from our sister schools at HSA McKinley Park, HSA Belmont, and Chicago Math and Science Academy. The day was filled with informational and professional development sessions in preparation for the upcoming school year. The energy in the building was so positive and charged with the excitement and the anticipation of the start of the school year. Everyone missed their students over the summer and couldn't wait to see everyone again. Thank you Concept Schools for allowing us the opportunity and the honor of hosting this special day at our school!

HSA Southwest staff welcomed back new and returning students on the first of school, which was Monday, August 22nd. There was an overwhelming sense of joy seeing our students and staff together again ready to start the new school year!

What a great start of the year we've had! We are so proud of our students and can't wait to see what this year brings. We know that if we work together we can do anything! The first of week of school was great; everything sent smoothly. Our students and staff got back onto the groove of things and had some fun while learning new things in class. Check out how the Huskies' first week of school went. We think Dr. Palmerin might have forgotten that school started, fortunately, we were there to remind him!

Coach Garcia and the boys varsity soccer team are gearing up for their upcoming season. The team has been practicing hard and they've put in a lot of work to make this their best season yet. The first game of the season is on Wednesday, August 31st at gage park agains Richards. We can't wait to see the team show off their skills as they open the season with a home game! Good luck Huskies!

The soccer team has also put together a raffle contest for our teachers and staff! They are raffling off a pair of free AirPods. To enter the raffle, students and staff must attend the games to earn a raffle ticket. The lucky inner will win the AirPods. The more games attend, the higher chances of being drawn. Winner will be revealed on October 7th.

We have been in contact with Schoolbelles regarding the delay in their shipment of uniform deliveries. They have assured us that they are sparing no expense to fill orders as quickly as possible and that they are working overtime to rush orders out as quickly as possible.
