What a weekend for the Kennebec Valley!

Wow-The KV Chamber was so proud to host the Ironman 70.3 and show off our amazing region. We all live here and know how wonderful it is, and you all showed them how great it is to live, work and play here. We are excited about this partnership and can't wait to see it return yearly. The triathlon consists of a 1.2-mile swim in the Kennebec River, a 56-mile bike around the region, and a 13.1-mile run that challenged over 1,400 athletes, mostly consisting of individual athletes but also relay groups.
The feedback has been outstanding, some even saying that it was the best race/course in New England because of the hospitality that our beautiful city showed the athletes. Thank you goes out to everyone that was involved! To all the agencies, Cities, volunteers (over 700!!!), residents, every merchant or hotel, EVERYONE!! This event would not be possible without all of you making it happen.

Keep the last Sunday in July marked on your calendar for the upcoming years, and reach out if you want to get on the list to volunteer in the future.

AUGUSTAÔÇöImpact2032, the community goal-setting initiative being led by United Way of Kennebec Valley (UWKV), has officially launched with more than 40 businesses, nonprofits, and government agencies already endorsing the movement. The event attracted more than 100 people to Waterfront Park in Augusta on Thursday.

Impact2032 recognizes that Kennebec County is a great place to live, work, and play but that not everyone is doing well. Too many people cannot afford basic needs, too many children are falling behind in school, and too many community members are dying early from preventable causes. Impact2032 aims to unite all sectors of the economy too, over the next 10 years, to create a healthier Kennebec County.
The University of Maine at Augusta Acquires New Airplane
The University of Maine at Augusta (UMA) has acquired a new Cirrus SR20 GS airplane that will allow the university to continue its expansion of state-of-the-art pilot instruction in Maine. UMA, the only university in the state and one of only two in New England to offer degrees in both traditional flight and remote pilot instruction, acquired the plane for its aviation degree and certificate programs to help solve a critical workforce gap in pilot training and make it easier for veterans to pursue aviation careers after their military service.
The new UMA Cirrus plane will provide students with training in high-performance aircraft with the latest cockpit design. New training syllabi for Private, Instrument, and Commercial will include specialized simulation and Virtual Reality training, all with the objective of providing the best in flight training with the most efficient use of the studentÔÇÖs financial resources. The use of simulation and Virtual Reality will have an environmental impact as well, saving a significant amount of fuel.
