Earlier this month, residents took a trip back to the 90s! Wendell Foster hosted a 90โs themed party in the Sensory Park with entertainment from DJ Shay. ๐ถ Residents went all out with the theme by wearing their favorite 90s-inspired outfits and sporting some fun hair colors. Everyone had a blast dancing to their favorite 90s tunes. We even saw a few of the classic 90โs moves like the sprinkler, the running man, and the vogue. ๐บ While dancing his heart out, Josh told us he was so happy! We absolutely love moments like this, and canโt thank our Recreation Department and staff enough for being so creative and keeping things fun! ๐ | |
Aktion Club Visits One Park Place | |
Wendell Fosterโs Aktion Club volunteered their time this month to visit residents of One Park Place, an assisted living facility in town. Club members spent time playing Uno with the residents, and then served up ice cream sundaes. ๐จ Aktion Club members took orders for sundaes using menus showing all topping options. After taking orders, members prepped the sundaes and delivered them to the residents. What a great activity and fun way to practice potential job skills! One Park Place residents loved having the company and playing a few rounds of Uno. Thank you, Aktion Club, for your dedication to our community and making others smile! | |

The Wendell Foster Half Marathon & 5K is on March 23rd, 2024, and it's never too early to start training! Race registration is now open, and we want YOU to run with us. With three divisions (the half, 5K, and our new Steps Division), this is the race for everyone! Fun fact: this is also our 5th annual race. We hope to see you at the finish line as we run to empower people with disabilities! | | |

Leighton's Yes! Moment ๐ | |
|
Meet Leighton, a Speech Therapy client with Apraxia of Speech. This makes it difficult for Leighton to sequence the motor movements of his lips and tongue to make different vowels and consonants and sequence those into words to form meaningful speech.
When Leighton started coming to Speech Therapy, there were around ten words he could say, and he would get extremely frustrated because others could not understand him. He is now very talkative and can carry on an excellent conversation!
Kristy Hampton, Speech Therapist, talks about Leighton's great strides since coming to Wendell Foster. โHe is an extremely hard worker. I know we shouldnโt have favorites, but he is one of my favorite kiddos on my caseload!โ said Hampton. Leighton seems to be a big fan of Mrs. Kristy, too!
We are so proud of you, Leighton! Keep up the hard work! ๐
