Thank You for Supporting Outdoor Buddies and Breaking some Clays!

You helped make the 2023 Clay Shoot Fundraiser a Success

The 2023 Outdoor Buddies 9th annual sporting clays fundraiser was held on Sat. August 5th 2023! It was held at the CPW’s Colorado clays shooting park East of Brighton Co.

I want to first say a huge “THANK YOU” to everyone that donated to Outdoor Buddies through support from our corporate sponsors to those who took part in the shoot as well as bought raffle tickets that made this event a tremendous success!

This event could not take place without the hard work of all of the volunteers that made this shoot fun for our guests as well as a successful fundraiser for Outdoor Buddies! THANK YOU EVERYONE , Great job!

The team of workers and the help of the CPW were able to get the sporting clay range back in shape and ready for our shoot after a major flood this spring! They had to replace and fix clay throwers and rebuild a course to make it a safe and fun course to shoot!

There was a great turnout from our corporate sponsors like Merick engineering, JHL Constuctors, Crackerjack Muddjacking out of Loveland ,Tolin Mechanical and Crofitt

We had great participation from individuals that made up the remainder of the field of shooters that supported Outdoor Buddies! Nordys BBq was served for lunch and is always the shooters favorite!

1st place was Tolin Mechanical! Congratulations!

Thank you for supporting the Outdoor Buddies Fundraiser Raffle!

As part of our annual clay shoot, we have the drawing for the annual Outdoor Buddies raffle. This year the raffle began at the International Sportsman Expo in January. Thanks to dedicated board members, we were able to sell tickets online and in person at locations in the Denver area. Cabela's Lone tree and Thornton, Murdock's in Littleton and the Centennial Gun Club all stepped up to help out. We can't thank them enough!

Now that the results have been tabulated, I am pleased to report that we had the most successful raffle ever! There were so many supporters that it sends a clear message that Outdoor Buddies is a worthy cause to donate to. Because we are an all volunteer organization, all the funds we made go directly to support our many programs for the disabled and youth.

The winners of the raffle:

5 gun:  Don Chrisman

Havak Rifle:  Mercedes Schwall

Guided cow elk hunt:  Alan Dowsett

Traeger Grill and half a beef:  Ryan Alt

$1000 VISA gift card:  Zachary Hedrick

Congrats to all these folks! I am sure you will enjoy your prize!

We will be back again next year with more great prizes and look forward to the support that has allowed us to serve the disabled since 1984!

Recipe: Classic Wild Turkey Sandwiches

Recipe by: Justin Adams, National Wild Turkey Federation

Credit: https://www.nwtf.org/

The capers and lemon add a great amount of salt and acid to bring out the flavor of that turkey, and the celery, onion and red pepper give it plenty of crunch and texture. Dukes mayonnaise and garlic finish it out perfectly.

Serve with some crunchy potato chips (salt and vinegar are my favorite) and a dill pickle spear and enjoy!

Ingredients

  • 1 wild turkey breast – roasted or smoked and cubed into small pieces
  • 2 pieces of Bibb or green leaf lettuce
  • ½ cup mayonnaise, preferably Duke’s
  • ½ cup diced celery
  • 1/4 cup diced red onion
  • 1/4 diced red bell pepper
  • 2 tablespoons drained capers
  • 1/2 of a lemon juiced
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Sandwich bread of choice –preferably croissants or good old fashioned white bread

Directions

1. In a bowl, combine the turkey, mayonnaise, celery, onion, bell pepper, capers and lemon juice.

2. Mix together until thoroughly combined. Season to taste with salt, pepper and garlic.

3. Serve on the bread of your choice with lettuce between the salad and bread.
